What did you do to your bike today?

Featured Replies

Said it before and here goes again. ACF50 place the tin the in hot water whilst you're cleaning the bike down prior to it's application. Remove the tin (wear a glove) give it a shake and comes out much thinner. Remember that it creeps so will find it's own way into the nooks and crannies that hard to get at. Anything that you are really struggling to reach just spray a little in the cap and use a small soft brush apply.

I used FS365 prior to ACF50 as the price of the former made me wince but it doesn't perform anywear near as good. For example if you have a bolt that has a bit of corrosion on it ACF50 actually cleans it up and prevents it progressing further. FS365 is a protective coating that doesn't last that long. ACF50 gets into any corrosion and treats it whilst providing further protection. Dirt does stick to it, hence why you only need a thin coat. Give a quick jet was and the dirt is gone but the ACF50 is still there.

That's a fair assessment though I paid £9 for a 1L spray bottle of FS365 while an 800cc bottle of ACF50 is over £30. I totally agree that ACF50 provides a longer lasting and probably better protective film which isn't surprising as FS365 is designed to be used regularly after each wash until it builds up as opposed to ACF50 which is more a 'do it before the winter' scenario. As I said I have both and used ACF50 during the winter applied via a compressor but after cleaning the bike in May I've been using FS365 after each clean to get me through the 'summer' before getting the compressor out again and I've still got about 3/4 of it left so seems quite good value. I guess it comes down to personal preference and how much winter riding you do. How do you get the ACF50 off at the end of winter? I used Sdoc 100 to get it off but it's not cheap.

I have a compressor but never used it for ACF50, just the spray tin.

I've never washed the stuff off, just apply another thin spray before winter.

I'm sure I still have some FS365 at the back of cupboard. I just didn't try it again after I got ACF50. I didn't actually buy it for the bike. I stripped done car wheels and polished them up and since I knew that lacquer wouldn't stick to the polished surface I thought I'd the ACF50. It lasted over two winters before it showed a little discolouration and it washed almost weekly so it does last.

Same here :D

I've never washed it off as such, just washed the dirt off it :D

But then i only tend to put it on hard to reach crevices that i cant really reach, as i don't plan on riding through winter on my pride and joy. So i just use it as an extra level of protection really.

The one thing that scratches easier than a mirror polished swingarm?

Delkavic exhausts! Touch em with a microfibre cloth or polish them and they just leave hairline scratches. Crap.

Really not happy with them tbh.

Not even happy with the sound. They should sound like thunder on the T, but they have this tendency to somehow make it sound less deep than it should be.. they did the same with the VFR.

I want some new cans...

Never heard of that make before. Previous bike had a full Akrapovics Evo system on it. Sounded beautiful, top quality build, even the welds looked amazing. Current bike came with a Wings can on it. Nearly as good build quality and sounds great too. They're quite a bit cheaper which makes them a bargain.

They distribute them from Stoke and are quite cheap at £240 for a pair, so i guess you get what you pay for. I'd personally prefer to pay more and get a better product though :D

Wings? Theres one i haven't heard of. Are they in the UK?

I'd love a pair of Akro's on it. They're over £1200 a pair though for the T, n theres absolutely no chance im paying that :D

Delkevic. ....made by the people that set up D&K imports in Stoke. Funny that they might have used their names coupled with something that ends like akrapovic. Always makes me chuckle, properly Tongue in cheek.

Well today I got the xr absolutely filthy. Real wet ride home from work.

Yanno. I never even realised that. I even went down there and personally picked up the VFR cans from them, and i never knew that! :D. Fact of the day haha. Nice one Dave!

Ah, you didn't manage to get to the edge of the tyre tonight then? ;)

Tell you what dude I was sliding all over the shop. Could have easily got to the edge. Then the exhaust can. Then the handlebars. Then the ditch lol.

How's the jager? Much left ?!!!

Wings are made in Slovenia. They do some top notch carbon parts too. Unfortunately they only do KTM and Husky.

Akrapovics are very nice but you need deep pockets otherwise second hand. GPR seem to be getting some good reviews so might be worth checking out.

Sounds good! Ill have to just have a perv at their website i think :D.

Yeah theres loads of T's about with Akro's as they were given away when customers bought a bike at a certain time. Mine obv never got those :D.

GPR are stupid load arent they?

Im tempted to go back to Beowulfs tbh. They were good on the SV, built well, sound good and dont break the bank. £440 inc vat, but theyre only in Halifax so i was wondering if the VAT would disapear if i turned up with pound notes ;):D.

Sounds good! Ill have to just have a perv at their website i think

I would not be admitting that in public.

If your take the baffles out, yes. Otherwise they have the EU noise regulated baffles the same as Akrapovics, Wings, Beowulf and everyone elses. You can always shorten the baffle to increase the noise if they are little too quite for your liking and still visibly passable if PC plod wants to have a quick look.

Ah nice one. I shall take a look then.

Everyone else apart from Delkavic. Who tell me their can is not for road use :D. They are abit loud tbh. Ask Chris :D :D.

I can confirm they area 'bit' loud but then I am a firm believer that can also be an aide towards helping others to be aware of your presence even if they don't see you.  Not to be relied upon entirely obviously.

Completely agree mate.

The exhausts louder than the horn anyway. I didnt think the horn worked until i tried it with the engine off :D :D

Thanks,

I applied it as per the all year biker video with my compressor and spray gun. I did warm it up too as it was done in January but It's not pleasant stuff to breath in and it gets everywhere as you can guess and leaves a mine mist in the air so a mask is essential if you ever decide to give it a go, especially if you do it in your garage. You'll also need some solvent like cellulose thinners to clean the gun out too afterwards. I didn't consider using a brush so I'll give that a go in the autumn to do the fiddly bits I can't do with the compessor

Got fed up of an Ebay seller arsing about, and i didnt want to let this seat cowl go... as its brand new.

So i finished work at 6. Jumped straight in the car. 6 hours driving (not counting the cheeky mcdonalds haha), 311 miles covered and im home again.

Actually quicker to take the car. No need to arse about with fuel stops :D. Cruise control has been a god send too!

It would have been cheaper to have knitted one!

Oh and just for the record you will NEVER call for a McDonalds while you are with me!
