I have a 2.0 TDi (150PS), does anyone else's exhaust sound strange when the car is parked up and idling. The noise is a higher frequency whirling sound, you can just hear it on the video (hopefully the link works) but it is more pronounced in life.

Mine does the same. It's not so loud but noticeable outside the car.

Watched the video again and I can hear some metallic noise as well.

You are right, I listened to the sound again tonight and the sound actually comes from within the exhaust pipe itself so is not the fuel pump. I will still take it to the dealer to see if they can find anything.

I had this ticking noise from exhaust. It is perfectly normal and isn't the fuel pump. Put your hand over the end of the exhaust when running and it should stop. Nothing to worry about
