Hard to tell to be honest. You still got a dmf or smf?

They did top your oil up after fitting.......

:(

Is dmf but sounds like a smf tho in video.lol

That did cross my mind, but yeah its topped up.

I hope doesn't effect performance too much.

After 2000rpm its fine but below that feels off & sluggish but once it gets going it flys.

Hoping can compare when at combe with the rest.

An oil cooler definitely shouldn't be causing your engine to make more noises...

All it really does is cool the oil - the only purely mechanical part in it is a temperature activated spring to open the thermostat up to allow flow through the cooler.

Ok guys, I've had an email off Rob at Darkside regarding the original incorrect parts. I will copy and past it here so that I don't have to type it all out in my current condition!...

HI Alex

Hope everyone got the fittings okay.

We have not received any of the unmodified ones back yet, please can you get in touch with the guys and ask for them to send them?

They are very expensive

Thanks

Hence are people able to either send their original adaptor back to Darkside or get in touch with them to let them know why if you feel you shouldn't have to.

Thanks :)

I didn't expect that mind :D

If it's fitted wrong, can it restrict oil flow causing those noises?

No your right its not the cooler.

I was messing around with the airflow and boost pipes so its gotta be that & not the cooler. (The parts i got off you hutchy)

False alarm everybody.

Ah the couplings. :)

Can someone please do me a favour and PM Steve the details of what the problem was and what needs to be done.

I have explained to him that I'm struggling to reply due to major eye surgery and all the details are on here, but I keep getting asked questions...

Thanks

As you say everything is covered in this thread pal,I'm not getting involved with PM'ing him any help/details as he does not appreciate any help he gets on here and never says thanks or let's people know the outcome of the problems they try and help him with.

u'd be last person i'd want a pm from or any help on that matter!

After castle combe yesterday(which steveopc chickened out of) I can report the coolers do a good job.

oil temp did not go above 120,last time mine was knocking on the door of 150.

I fear they will overcool on daily drivers in the winter though, but I'm planning on blocking off airflow through mine to help. :)

Good,save you being disappointed.

Is their not a thermostate? Sorry not read what was included in the kit.

Yeah but even thermostatic plates allow a certain amount around the cooler all the time, looking at the gap probably about 40% is open at all times.

Then at 80 degrees or whatever the thermostat fully opens :)

Have you done this yet blocking off the airflow?

It's so cold outside feel paranoid having the cooler still on.

Mine doesn't overcool.  I've not noticed any dip in the regular running oil temps (mine are measured in the sump) from before I fitted the kit.  The only difference is on trackdays the oil doesn't heat up as quickly so it's doing its job then. :)

What about recently during the last few cold days noticed any difference in readings?

Well it would help if i had a gauge fitted myself.(its on my list)

Then again yours isn't exactly a normal fabia lol

No I haven't yet,as it's not been 'really' cold yet.

See below for my daily driving results.

Your not very observant then imo ;)

My temps are down circa 10 degrees on my daily drive, and it takes aprox 2 miles further after starting out to get the temp upto 50 degrees which is the lowest temp my gauge shows :)

I wonder if Darkside ever recieved the parts that needed to be returned :D
