  • Ok guys... these have arrived :)     I'm stupidly busy tomorrow so won't have chance to start boxing them up until Friday. So as soon as the first is boxed and weighed I'll be in touch re. postage

  • Thanks again for organising this Alex. Top work

Good shout! Username and real name would be a better idea.

To be honest no-one should be having to pay for postage, as it's not at all our fault...  However, in all fairness Darkside have rectified the situation quickly. Hence why a compromise was made to get everyone sorted asap. As I knew that Combe was around the corner!

Just got this delivered

Received mine today

I've fitted mine, but a word of warning it's a pain in the arse mounting the cooler in the area where standard intercooler was.

I spent a good few hours making a bracket to hold mine, but luckily I've got a MIG welder etc in my garage, anyone that's planning on paying a garage to do this job it will cost you!!!!

IMO the cooler is too long,so when you position it length way standing up the top fouls on wing, and the bottom touches bumper.

Also the top pipe outlet is then too close to the boost pipe running up behind headlight,so you need to use one of the 90degree fittings on there,so that then means you need to use a straight pipe fitting on the front port of the sandwich plate, which then does not leave you much clearance between air con pump and rad fan bracket.

If you are fitting it lying down length ways somewhere in the front of car you will be ok.

I know these cooler kits are classed as 'universal',but IMO when the supplier knows what car these are going on,and knows people want to fit them where the standard side mount intercooler was they should supply a better suited/size oil cooler IMO.

And to top it off mounted where it is (the only place it will fit)it's got bugger all direct air flow to it!!!!! :(

Wow that is quite big.

Good pictures and bit of a guide regardless.

Hopefully still see some positive results from oil temps.

Hope you remembered how you made the bracket, got a feeling some P.M's are coming your way :x

Im going to garage 2mra to see what can be done.

I've not got a fmic so have got the space to fit it around the front.

Wish me luck.

Great work Kev!

Bad news to hear they're ideally too big for a side-mounted application.

Now I'm not doing Combe I'm going to keep mine off until I have replaced the Airtec and have room at the top to put it. I'll fit the thermostat now though and just loop a small hose through it for now.

Here's mine.

Looks nice and easy to mount there!!

Just keep an eye on the pipe nearest the rad fan bracket off the thermo plate,as it looks very close.

when your engine moves it looks close enough to me to scuff on the rad fan bracket,if it rubs through and you lose your oil it will be new engine time :(

Ooh, Yeah your right does look really close.

Ideally wanted pipes to go the other way round but there just wasn't enough space for them.

I'll have another look at it later on today.

Oil leak = major problem.

Lol,fitted joes today ;)

Found a issue with the thermo plate fitting on the BLT too :(

Is the BLT and ASZ oil cooler different?

Not overly impressed with the whole thing to be honest.

The modine looks the same, but the oil filter housing has a little locating leg on the BLT which is to stop the modine turning by the looks of it as you tigten the bolt, this locating leg stops the mocal thermo plate going up into position as it hits the outlets.

Not overly impressed with the whole thing to be honest.

Kev has an oil temperature gauge in his car and was hitting about 130 after the last Combe session he went on. So see what he sees this time!
