PCH Service Question...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not long until my L&K arrives hopefully!

To everyone who has their Octy on PCH - does the servicing HAVE to be carried out by a Skoda dealer? Is this part of the contract? I was under the impression that it was no longer the case that a car must be serviced at a franchised dealer to maintain warranty etc?

Cheers.

Be interesting to see what other people have done and what the truth is! I'm 99% certain that in terms of HP, PCP and cash purchase etc, that you're free to take your car to any VAT registered garage for service and still maintain the warranty.

It's a rental agreement and different to purchase as you are not the owner, yes it does have to be taken to a skoda dealer

Irrespective of whether taking it elsewhere invalidates the warranty, if your lease contract says you must take it to a Skoda dealer then that's what you need to do.

This. It will state the servicing requirements in the PCH contract.

I would guess it will state in very clear terms that it has to be at a main dealer :)

If your PCH is with VWFS like mine section 9.4.1 stipulates authorised Skoda dealers only for servicing. It doesn't even say VW or Seat dealers are ok!

I have been told the car is serviced at fixed intervals rather than variable when its pch

No, not necessarily our lease scout is on variable

Exeterj, can you confirm that the Skoda servicing only stipulation is in your contract ? Cheers.

Yeah, says so in the standard Skoda blurb 'Contact Hire Drivers Guide - important information'... first page, your responsibilities... "it is your responsibility as the hirer to ensure the vehicle is serviced at the manufacturers recommended intervals by an authorised Skoda retailer or repairer..."

Interestingly solutions / PCP can be VW... but contract hire says approved retailer - when i search around my way most of those are the skoda dealers but there is one in north devon which is actually the Seat dealer but they are approved Skoda service.

I work in bolton but its a weird one near there which i was going to use, its a dealer of other cars but does not sell skoda, only has a skoda service centre - will that do as i am PCH? It is RRG and on the skoda website http://www.skoda.co.uk/dealers/rrg-skoda-bolton/homepage/

I believe so, RRG comes up in the search when you use the www.skodafinance.co.uk link in my post above - their name is RRG Skoda

thanks :)

You will be wanting any updates or enhancements (software updates) and any Warranty Work done, and the Body Inspection.

Or maybe not if you are not caring about that.

So you could use a Independent Specialist that can do those under licence from Skoda /VWG.

?

How much do you expect to save over 2 or 3 Services by not using a Skoda, VW, Audi or Seat Main Dealer?

yeah i agree for the hassle or worry i would just stick to dealer cant be mahooosive difference to warrant that.

Thanks Exeterj, hopefully I'll be in mine by the end of the month, so getting these details squared off before I sign will be a big help. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I had a feeling it would be main dealer only on PCH, but just wanted to make sure!

After having a look online for service costs, getting it done at a Skoda dealer isn't really that much more at all.
