Rob's Ur Quattro

There are so many wires in this car that aren't connected to anything!
I also made a decision to remove the factory pneumatic central locking. Electric remote locking kit on its way from Ebay which will give me two spare keys, two remotes and a button to open the boot from the remote.

This was a somewhat nerve wracking job to do.

Soooo the local rust specialist bodyshop guy came around last night and had a look. He's not interested in the donor car for panels so I'm thinking what to do about that one now.

He quoted about $5k to fix all of the rust and paint. Which sounds pretty good to me.

5k aussie dollers? if so that really doesnt seem too bad, would definetly be a worth while investment anyway

I used to pass one of these in red(well it was red once upon a time) everyday on my way to school and couldnt help but stare everyday :(

You going to keep it black?, a nice white one at VW Festival last weekend E2A8FC9D-C567-4BF7-B2DC-CC963ECFD55C.jpg

It sure is Rusty, keep watching your Autoclique thread .  As for your inspection lamp and getting burned i've got this Unilite prosafe inspection lamp, 750 lumens and does not get hot enough to burn you, its super bright white light , long lead  was recommended in Evo mag last year http://www.edwardes.co.uk/en/products/unilte-ps-ml5-750-lumen-led-mains-powered-inspection-torch?utm_medium=google_shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=google_shopping&p=1

Cheers, will look for something like that. A quick Google and I found something similar but this being NZ, 3-4 times the price :D

I do plan to keep it black, yes. At first I had the idea of going red because I've always loved Tornado Red Audis, but it will look epic in shiny black.

The standard black has a bit of metallic flake to it.

Still thinking about wheels - maybe do them gloss black, Knight Rider style as it's a 1985 car. Or rally white.

I remember a colleague had one in Red when I had one of my Scoobys. We had a go in each others car and I thought, even though the Audi was a bit older than my Scoob, it felt just as good to drive (although the turbo lag seemed a bit more pronounced in his and the gearbox wasn't to slick) and what a great noise. Love them in red..............and yellow............and white.................and well you get the picture :) I certainly felt a bit more special in it than in my Rooby Doo

Donor Coupe GT should be in its way to me tomorrow hopefully. Another car to strip. :)

It has electric windows and a sun roof so fingers crossed the sunroof seal is good (saves me $250-300 if it is).

Just from this photo I can see a load of bits that I need. Little trims and stuff. It also has all of the dash trims that have holes in them on mine.

These alone justify the $450 transport cost as they're hard to find and expensive.

I'm going to have a lot of spares to save!!
