The Superb III Picture thread

If you go for SE Business, metallic paint is a zero cost option so you shouldn't be restricted to solid

Can you post a link to that info for me please, as the Skoda website configurator and specification list suggests it is a cost option like the rest of the trim levels.

Hope this works - I haven't uploaded any pictures before.

I must be losing the plot, I cannot see any reference to the SE business spec in the brochure or it's paint options. (anyone?)

The only place I can find reference to SE Business is on the website model page under 'features and spec'.....  http://www.skoda.co.uk/models/superb-hatch-2015/features-and-spec  where if you select from the drop down box SE Business, it shows the paint options as cost options. (See my screen shot below) Where did you see that metallic was free on a SE Business, as this if great news if true?

When I ordered mine they ticked metallic and it added the cost, dealer then said ah this is wrong it should be free so un-ticked it but wrote the colour on the order sheet instead. However they were adament that it was free on SE Business.

I think you did well, but certainly today, according to any info I can find, metallic is charged.

I'm refusing to have my pants pulled down so will order Pacific blue out of principal alone. Paying extra for red or white is simply Skoda taking the pi$$.

It was also free on my SE Bus. order however at the time I'm pretty sure that was because it was a lease deal - maybe for purchase it's different?

Ah, that would be based on the leasing company and the higher residual value of metallic paint - Skoda will still be charging.

My car is bought by my company outright, not leased.

Sounds reasonable, when I was looking at the outlander phev, one lease company quoted me full leather for £1 a month less than without leather! He said it was all about residuals though I've never done the maths myself.

The lease company my employer use offer free metallic paint on all manufactures except vw,seat, skoda, audi. its a mistake imo as VAG lose loads of orders as the majority of people go with a manufacturer that offers free metallic. you can obviously spec metallic on a vag car but it puts £10 to £15 a month on the lease which can be the difference between a model grade.

I'll chose a colour I don't like out of stubborn protest! LOL

There has always been a charge for met paint (since Oct) at least for SE Business.

Some lease companies do offer it free though if it means the car will be worth more at the end of the term.

The £175 are for Corrida Red and Candy White, both with are still solid colours.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I think it'll be Pacific blue on principal - I'm not paying extra for solid white or red.

Recently had my SIII SE Business given a new car detail, which included interior and exterior protection by Matthew at Off your Marks nr Warrington in Cheshire.

I'm very happy with the results and the service.

That looks amazing!

As a complete numpty when it comes to detailing, what happens next as you drive your car over the coming weeks and months? I presume that "normal" muck and stuff won't stick you your car like it would to a mere mortal one... Does that mean that in between times you give it a quick pressure wash and it returns to this level of shine? How often do you need to get it back into the specialist for a re-do? How much would this cost? What do you do in between by way of cleaning/waxing/polishing (hours per week?!?).

Am just wondering whether a lazy so and so like me would get any benefit after the initial "wow".......

The car will be easier to clean but a power wash alone will not be enough to get it fully clean.

Most hard waxes will last around 3 months, a ceramic coating will last for years, ATEOTD you get what you pay for.

Even with a basic detail 1 hour per week should be ample to keep it clean, then every 3 months it will take about half a day to wax, longer if it needs polishing again due to poor wash technique etc.
