The Superb III Picture thread

Do you truly mean polish? I.E. an abrasive product to remove swirls scratches etc or do you want something to protect your paint like a polish or a sealant?

I'd guess the latter and there is such a wide variety of products on the market but sometimes the older products are still among the best and this includes Finish Kare 1000p or FK1000p as we know it. Comes in a tin and is described as a paste wax but is infact a sealant, easy to apply and buff off, great on light colours, can be layered almost immediately and gives several months of protection and leaves a nice glossy finish.

Do you "clay" your paintwork? If not treat yourself to a Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt available for £12 in Halfords, this can give you a dramatic improvement to your paintwork.

Cheers oldgits,

Yeah I mean just keeping it glossy, I have some autoglym stuff that I use on the misses Merc that keeps it shining well between washes. Used it on the Superb but on the white doesn't really do much, just want to make it not look flat really and have some shine.

I have used clay bars before and I agree the results are quite unbelievable, you think a car is clean until you use one haha.

Autoglyms stuff is good enough and if you are working by hand the SRP is a sound choice, it contains fillers too that go a little way to masking any swirls. The glossier you want it the "the flatter" it will need to be and that means a few hours of hard work.

For something quick nd easy then try Sonax BSD after your wash, spray on wipe off, leaves a good gloss and protection.

Could I ask what was the cost of the roof film?

@philpix

300e black on the roof + transparent on front lights and front side windows

Good couple of hours cleaning and protecting. Anybody have any advice on a good polish for white?

Tried & tested on 3 high mileage white cars for me is:

Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze, followed by Jetseal 109, followed by collinite 915 wax.

After the above you only need to top the wax up every 6 months.

Could I ask what was the cost of the roof film?

Just had my roof done. I have sunroof, so vinyl runs from back of sunroof to top of rear window.

Price was £85 + VAT. Took 2 guys about an hour.

Any chance of a photo?

Just taken this one - car unwashed for a week, but gives a good idea of result.

Brilliant Terry. Looks the dogs danglers:)

Would someone mind putting up a picture of wind/rain deflectors on new superb, I'm thinking of getting them but not if they take away from the look of the car (too wide or protruding). Do them come in different shades, ie dark tinted or clear?

Thanks

I have looked. And did so again but either my phone isn't loading pictures for some reason or I keep skipping the particular page. Do you know Philpix what page it is on?

Otherwise if someone has a picture already taken and has the time to upload I would be very grateful.

Got my car on friday and had several days of rain after that. So my pics are not as shiny and good looking as they would be after a wash.

This is a MY17 model anyway.

Man you must be p****d off! Looking at that second picture, how on earth did they manage to hit you?! I think someone wasn't paying attention...

Hope you manage to get it fixed quickly.

Regarding wind deflectors; Is it true that they add wind noise when windows are up? (Expect for being extremely fugly...)
