Changing my UK 2015 Skoda Yeti software over to Australian

Featured Replies

I do hope someone can help me.

Today, my dealer told me that they cannot change the software in my Yeti to Australian from UK.

I want this done so I can see the larger MPH digits in the Maxidot display. I understand that it should show both MPH and KPH and that changing to Australian means I can choose one or the other.

Is there anyone out there who is reasonably local to Cheshire that can do this changeover for me for a fee?

Have been told it needs doing on something called VCDS.

  • Australia has been 100% metric for many decades.....not at all half pregnant like you lot. Nobody under 40 would know what an inch/mile/pint is. As for the Yanks....spare me!.

  • Turn the car on its roof. I hear that works

Correct, the dealer cannot do this as it will invalidate the European type approval for your car, so the ODIS computer will not have the option and you must go third party software.

It's not even possible on some variants of the MY15 cars with VCDS either, other members have reported issues getting the region changed.

Here is a post including map of VCDS owners. It may not be 100% up to date.

Thanks for the info Urrell.

Might not be necessary! I owned a Fabia 2 years ago which the dealer changed to Australia after I gave him printed instructions and explained it was not contrary to regulations. Picked up my new Yeti yesterday from the same dealer after explaining I wanted the same mod as before to which he was happy to agree. Turned out he didn't need to, apparently the latest cars mph can be selected from the Maxidot menu. Might pay to have a look first.

Thanks reyn,

I just double checked my MFI settings and I do not have any option for changing KPH to MPH.  I also says in the owners manual that I can do it but those 'extra' menu's are not offered on my Yeti.

Have you looked under " Units " in the settings.

I've just checked the units on my new MY16 Yeti and you can only change the temps from  degrees C to F,

or the fuel consumption units.

Ok just had a look, Between UNITS and SERVICE I have a tick box "Alt unit display" if you have this untick it go back to main maxidot screen and scroll through the screens and you will find large mph, it won't show anything except mph until you move.

When the car is in Australian Mode, as my Octavia MKII Vrs was, KPH is not displayed if you have the large MPH displayed. Just to add the car will not fail an MOT if KPH is not displayed but it has to have the ability to display it.

Following another post I went through the menu and couldn't change it either.

Consensus was that because there aren't any KPH markings on the dial (unlike some other cars) then you have to have KPH in the display. they obviously don't trust all owners to be able to switch between the two units! :D

Just wondering why the Australian version should allow you to change between the two units?! :D

I assume Aussie land works in MPH and are too far from anyone else using KPH. I can't see them going on a road trip to another country, can you

So what unit for speed do you use in Australia then? Just assumed it was MPH as you drive on the left like us half pregnant lot! :D

I bet you know what a pint is at the moment!

I bet you NEED TO know what a pint is at the moment!

Fixed that for you!!

No!

No half measures here ......KPH.

We don't hold an anti froggie grudge. .....)))

And yr beer is way to flat and tepid!

KPH..  I always thought you were in MPH, I didn't realise you lot were are only half British. I'll have a word with Lizzy ( your Queen ) and see what she can do. You'll soon be in MPH don't worry I'll sort it...............       :giggle:

Hope you've been watching the Cricket. That little " urn " is now ours..........Well for now

We like it when you get cocky.

We might get a good beer in Looe in the morrow, hopefully.

On my MY16 SE 150 TDI 4x4 there's nothing between Units and Service.

I'm confused (yes I know, easily happens! Must be the excellent beer I drink i.e. Slaughterhouse Hog-Goblin! We have our secrets! :)) as from the opening and subsequent posts I thought that the advantage of the Australian settings was that you could get a large readout in MPH and hence the other reason for thinking that MPH was used down under. And hence why the large display was available as there was no need for KPH.

But as my understanding was completely wrong (good weekend!) and KPH is your standard then why have MPH at all? Never mind the ability to have a large display.

As well as not being able to get MPH in the display as far as I can tell we can't get a large readout in KPH either.

reyn - intrigued as to why your car seems to be different from the rest of ours?

I set the cc to 'indicated +5' and rarely refer to the speedo in either form, just the TomTom (have I mentioned the benefits of the TomTom ))))....benefit of little traffic and mostly wide n straight roads.

We have no reason to see if MPH display is possible.

On my MY16 SE 150 TDI 4x4 there's nothing between Units and Service.

Same on my MY16

Ok, I was given an incorrect impression by the Salesman. I have contacted the Service Manager to sort this out, he told me it was more not less difficult to do than my old Fabia, he had to use the computer and change the binary codes whatever that is.

Sorry for the mistake.
