Changing my UK 2015 Skoda Yeti software over to Australian

Featured Replies

They have used VCDS to do this, it's not something a Skoda dealership would normally do.
Are they pukka Skoda dealers?

  • Australia has been 100% metric for many decades.....not at all half pregnant like you lot. Nobody under 40 would know what an inch/mile/pint is. As for the Yanks....spare me!.

  • Turn the car on its roof. I hear that works

Ok, I was given an incorrect impression by the Salesman. I have contacted the Service Manager to sort this out, he told me it was more not less difficult to do than my old Fabia, he had to use the computer and change the binary codes whatever that is.

Sorry for the mistake.

Sounds though your dealer has either an unusual degree of autonomy within the importers rules or is a man with a pirate streak and is prepared to use Vag.com software. In the UK I believe dealers are limited to a pared down officially supplied software which doesn't include the facility to make the software changes experts such as Gizmo68 effortlessly carry out.

No!

No half measures here ......KPH.

We don't hold an anti froggie grudge. .....)))

And yr beer is way to flat and tepid!

And as for Castlemaine "XXXX"...

We don't drink Fosters, it's an export beer only and the big brands are basically rubbish with the possibility exception of VB and XXXX.

Lots of 'craft' beers available.

Fosters reminds me of weak as p American beer ...as in USA .

Bloomin' heck it's hard work sometimes! :x

Right, so in Australia it's KPH.

It's extremely unlikely that an Aussie Yeti will find itself needing to display MPH.

Then why have Skoda provided the facility to do that, and not only that, but provided the ability to go large as well, when we don't have the choice of a large readout in MPH or KPH?

I'm not that bothered but I do find the large display in MPH in the TT to be useful at low speeds i.e. in built up areas or in average speed camera stretches.

I know that when virtual cockpits and the like become more prevalent we will have more choices than we will know what to do with! :D

Ryeman - so apart from the beer, have you had a good trip?

100% metric?

So why the big MPH display? MPH is imperial?

Woops.

Looks like we're on the same level!

I really would like to know how to get the big MPH though.

My mums got a 2015 yeti, and seems as the speedo has no 30, 50 or 70mph. So itd be easier if she had the big mph imo.

^^^^^ 50. 80. 110. are near enough.

Not really :D

Its a stupid idea really. Not displaying the speed limits in this country. I can only guess it suits other countries better

I think wires are getting crossed here! Must be the strength of the British beer! :D

Hi Guys in Australia our Government uses Police to "Revenue Raise".

Have found or by using Sat Nav, or Mobile Phone with Sat Nav, plus Cockpit App to show Speed.

Have Camera that records readings, has been useful.

Changed mine to mph large, change it to rest of the world or Australia and then change units to UK you need VCDS

Well it's been effective in stopping the endless que jumping and harassment which is basically what speeding is.

Still want to get my brand new Yeti converted to Australia software so that I can have the large MPH display in the maxidot.

I have sent messages to several people on the VCDO list but no reply.

Can anyone else help?  I am near to Crewe in Cheshire.

I tried to to do mine last night, but I think the software I had was to old. It did not give me the drop down box for 'Australia' when I got to the relevant section, but popped up with an error.

Why would anyone think Australian software would have MPH?.

Because it has worked in the past.  I doubt anyone knows why setting the country to Australia would enable an MPH display on the Maxidot - I believe it was found by experimentation ie fiddling!  As you say, there doesn't seem to be any good reason for it to have that effect, but it definitely did.  There are several threads on this forum about it if you really want to assure yourself of the fact

It does sound like the firmware has been modified recently so that the VCDS mod no longer has the somewhat odd side-effect that people took advantage of.  That risk is always present when making use of an undocumented feature.

An answer at last! :D

At least I don't need to worry anymore as to whether I want a large Maxidot or not, as it appears I can't have one!

And if I could, I wouldn't have to have it changed back if I decide to take the Yeti abroad.

  • 1 month later...

I have a new Yeti, purchased in September.

I would love to change the kph maxi dot display to mph.

There are instructions on this forum to change the country to Australia, to get a large mph display.

Flyboy019 kindly tried this out for me last week using his VCDS, but the Yeti would not allow the change.

Has anyone been able to make this change on a 2015 Yeti with maxi dot display?

Where does this fixation with Australia being still stuck with MPH come from?.

From what I can gather it's not about Australia as such, just that using Australia as your version in the software allows for an MPH readout whereas using UK (for example) only allows KPH, despite Australia using kilometres anyway... I don't know, don't have my Yeti yet but if it's as people say I can understand that particular frustration, the facility being there but not being able to use it.

It's probably because, unlike the UK, Oz isn't governed by Berlin.

From what has been posted on the forum, I believe it is not now possible to change to the MPH setting via VCDS on the latest Yeti models.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
