VRS spare wheel

Jack, wheel brace spare wheel fixing bolt and foam tool insert is available from Skoda for £41 inc vat, see my post " Scout Jack"

A spare 17" wheel can be sourced from eBay

Cost me £99 when ordering the car. Seems a large spectrum of prices??

I'm looking into spare for my new bed also. Just been quoted approx £305 by dealer. Could someone please advise what is the actual size of the official space saver wheel. I've seen kits on eBay which say suitable for vRS to replace 18" wheel but the actual size of space saver is 16". But I'm sure I've read elsewhere it needs to be a 17" wheel. Or is space saver different? Thanks.

2013 vRS tdi with a factory space saver - size is 125/70R18 and yes you're right 16 won't fit over the front discs on a vRS.

16 won't fit over the front discs on a vRS.

That's pretty common though. Normal remedy is if you get a front flat, to swap a rear alloy with the front.

Each to their own but I'd rather have the right sized spare than have to mess about on the road swapping wheels about.

With regards to it only costing £100 to get a factory order spare, I don't doubt the dealers are making money on it but remember than £100 is not the cost of the spare - it's the cost of the upgrade.

I've no idea how much the goo costs but I can't imagine the goo+compressor etc is that cheap, although ~£200 seems a bit much.

Yes I agree too.

Thanks for your help, I see a 18" space saver on eBay for £115, and then will source kit from superskoda, so that's half dealer price at least.

Another option might be to get a full sized wheel.

I had a spare Gemini at one point and tried it in the spare wheel well but the floor was very slightly raised.

I've just looked at the Superskoda site, couldn't see Jack kit for Octavia, they have one for the Superb at 59 euros. I got my 5E Jack kit for only £41.

i got charged £93 to get it added to the order which i paid the dealer seperately for as to not mess up the finance agreement.

i got myself a used 18x7.5 alloy and fitted a full size tyre to it.  got the rim on ebay for £60.  never even noticed the floor was raised with this in the boot until I read a previous post from gullyg and went and checked ...it is raised by a mm or 2 only.

I swapped my mk2 VRS for a mk3 in May 2014. Had spare wheel and jack with mk2. Dealer said spare wheel from mk2 would fit mk3 no problem,so just swapped for the foam that came with the mk3 on taking delivery and didn't bother to check. Have now done checked. Spare is a 16inch steel  .  Just as well I haven't had a puncture yet. Forum 1, Dealer 0 yet again! BTW, Mk2 jack works OK has have had wheels off so fix some VRS stickers on the calipers.

I know it would be a bit of a faf but the 16” will fit the rear so you could put the spare on the rear and the rear tyre on the front.

It would at least get you out of trouble, you also have a 50/50 chance of the flat tyre being on the rear anyway.

I found an unused official 18" space saver spare + kit from a breaking dealer for £150 plus postage so that wasn't too bad.

I picked up an 18in space saver wheel with tool kit (for a vw) for £25, the wheel looks fine, though i may need the correct jack ?

I have the Skinny 18" spare in my 230, The dealer said I could swop it from the Vrs I was trading in and put the can of gunk in the Part X.

Am I correct in thinking that Vrs Neptune wheels off a MKII Vrs won't fit the front of a MKIII due to the curviture of the spokes, Think I read it some where
