Heated Mirrors Alteration via VCDS?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if it is possible to set these via VCDS to turn on / off with the rear demister like it is with some other models in the Skoda range rather than via the mirror adjust dial?

Just seems a pain to have to turn them on seperately from the rear demister as i like to keep the mirror adjuster in the Left position so i get the auto dipping mirror when reversing.

I thought exactly the same today, so interested if anyone knows the answer!

its a physical circuit rather than anything controlled by the computer.

Ah right..... I just wondered with numerous Rapid and, i think, Fabia owners having the change made in VCDS so that instead of turning the mirror adjuster to the heated position the mirrors come on at the same time as they press the rear demister button.

No, the only relevant adjustment is to change the amount of time until the heaters (both rear window and mirrors) is turned off automatically.  By default it's 10 minutes.

Ironically, it's the same value register for timeout for both rear window and mirror heaters, despite activation of these features by separate controls. I'm not sure if it's the same timer, or two timers with the same end value.

I prefer seperate controls as I don't always want both on together.  The only annoyance for me is the lack of a warning light for the heated mirrors and I've sometimes driven for some distance or until I'm reversing before I notice I forgot to turn them off.

Do you mean specifically in the Superb II???

A read of this thread suggests otherwise in the Rapid as a couple of people are confirming that via VCDS they have basically made the heated mirrors position on the mirror adjuster inoperative and the heated mirrors are switched on and off via the rear demister button..... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/371310-heated-door-mirrors/

I wouldn't be to concerned about turning them off, on my Audi when the temperature is below a certain temperature they come on automatically and stay on all the time until the engine is turned off again. Great as it prevents moisture build up and keeps snow from settling on them when we do actually get any.

I've activated this feature on both my mum's and my Auntie's fabias - looked on mine (2011) and my dad's (2014) Superb's for this feature and unfortunately it's not there   This must be controlled through the CCM/BCM though if it's able to be activated on other models...

My 2002 E46 BMW 320d SE had it's heated mirrors on permanently regardless of outside temperature or pressing any buttons.

Not sure if this was normal but the mirror glass very quickly delaminated.
