Welcome H.

Have you found our Links section yet?

To be honest with you , you cant.

Atmostpheric dump valves (which make the whooshing noise) dont work very well on the 1.8 turbo engine. The standard valve (which is very poor) is a re-circlulating type which returns vented boost back through the air intake thus keeping the turbo spinning and reducing stall.

But do replace the standard one they are terrible. We quite often find a loss of boost when we run a 1.8T on the rolling road and its usually due to the DV re-circulating to early.

We do our own branded one for

If you really want to hear the DV venting then you'll either have to modify the standard airbox or fit a CAI.

Techie is right in advising to change standard DV to an aftermakret one e.g Bailey/Forge. Standard DV can handle a remap but will fail..it is a certainty.

Cheers mate....feel all clever now ;)

The 1.8T doesn't have a dump valve as such. It uses a recirculating valve, which doesn't make the same "whoosh" sound.

If you want the "whoosh" sound without knackering your engine, you'll have to fake it, like this

Welcome to Briskoda, BTW

Changing pictures? Easy - I do it all the time sig-omatic.php3

All I need now is a selection of more interesting pictures... :)

Here's one.......:D

Well. yes, it's a nice shed (I think I've been there), but someone has parked a blue van^H^H^H estate in the way :p

I understand that it needed to be an Estate to carry all that extra bhp and torque home for the owner. :D

PS And the silver Bailey DV. :)

PPS I also understand that it didn't have the fancy exhaust, CAI and FMIC that vRS owners need to better those bhp and torque figures.

i must say the estate looks a better balanced design than the hatch especially the pre facelift model.:)

H Turbo, yes you can, and without knackering the engine (not like me to be contrary ;) ). You can get some, can't remember you makes them, which are both recirc and VTA. They work as recirc up to a certain point (user configurable) and the remainder of the air is VTA giving the nice (??????) whooooooosh!

ABD do Hybrid valve which is part recirc and part atmo....however although it sounds goods a few peeps have had problems with them e.g. over-fueling, not quite holding the right boost level.

It's also more expensive than say a Bailey or Forge...both come for around

AET Turbo also sell the hybrid valves.

Morning Jon!

Not heard of that one before but as usual you're a well of information.;)

Will tell Dave U about it....he's always on the look out to make his RS noiser.;):D

i assume you will be looking for a towbar.. other wise you wont be able to carry your usual bull **** around as well as the hp!

re bettering the figures... i think anialating would be a more appropriate.

My car's better than yours, blah blah blah blah! :D ffelan, I think he also need the estate to be able to carry around the chip which usually resides on his shoulder. A common thing for 4x4 estate owners? ;)

maybe it need remapping?

Good morning, boys. Your helpful and constructive comments are noted.
