fuel filter

Featured Replies

hi all just want to know where the fuel filter is located on a 2007 1.6 fsi petrol octavia and is it a paper filter of an al in one thing thanks for any help

Silver, thats the oil filter isnt it?  :D  The fuel filter on my 2008 vrs is next to the fuel tank on the o/s of the vehicle (just behind the sill)& its a metal canister type not a paper element.  im not sure if its the same on the 1.6.

Thats the same one thats fitted to mine, easy enough to replace.

Not a big deal for those who drain the oil by using plug below the car. If the cover is removed  then probably filter change can be done fast.

But those who choose to drain the oil by pump from above might be disappointed :)

Its a fuel filter change not a oil & filter change.....

Oh, my bad :) Should not drink that much beer :)

You & silver1011 must be drinking the same stuff!

To the OP.

The fuel filter is on the rear right side just in front of the back wheel.

The part is common in external features to many VW/Skoda models but the pressure ratings vary so you need to check that you have the correct partno. They are reasonably cheap to buy. Replacement is reasonably simple. Wear eye protection as the fuel is under pressure.

One good tip is to change the fuel filter only after the car has been standing unused overnight and do not open the drivers door before you change it! That way the fuel pressure is low and the three pipes just dribble a little as you disconnect them. Also - use the caps from the new filter to plug the holes on the used filter as soon as you take each pipe off. Filter contains a fair amount of fuel and plugging it up immediately will stop you dropping very much at all. Easiest to do the two at the back first and then then remove the filter from the bracket and disconnect the single pipe at the front last, as the release button on that pipe is harder to get to when the filter is attached to the vehicle.
