Lease deals

Featured Replies

Just as a head's up, while Simpsons always seem to offer some of the best deals on new lease Yeti's, it's worth discussing with your own dealership.

Yesterday I went with a friend for a test drive and she decided to go for it but we were both surprised when, after a fair discussion with the manager, our local Skoda garage (Fish Brother's Swindon) was able to match their lease deal on a new L&K. So for £1990 down and £179 per month over 23 months she's got hers due in three weeks: 150tdi, DSG, Petrol Blue with spare wheel and Mirror Link (not options she really was desperate for but as the vehicle is at the port and for £10 a month extra it saved a 3 month wait!).

Definitely worth finding the deal you want and seeing what your own local dealer can do! Hers arrives before mine and being through a main dealer is probably going to be less hassle than mine through a lease company for around the same price! :)

Plenty of supply at the moment I guess also.

I saw the PCH deals at Simpson (via a post on Briskoda) and decided to look at ordering a Yeti 1.4tsi L&K.

I went to a dealer in Newcastle who could not match the deal, however Silbury Skoda were able to match the deal (£1990 deposit, 23 x £124 pm).

I bought my current Yeti from Silbury and have always had great service from them so I placed an order with them.

I still haven't decided what to do with my current Yeti, but will review that when I have an indication of when my new Yeti will be ready

There are some seriously good lease deals on the Yeti right now.

I am looking at the Simpsons deal on the 1.2 TSi (110) SE-L Outdoor.

£2090 deposit, £89 per month, all including VAT for 8,000 miles per year.

So £89 x 23 = £2,047, plus £2,090 = £4,137 / 24 months = £172 / month.

Cheap as chips.

Yes, Fish Brothers Swindon, also matched the offer I got from an online lease company.

I got an Outdoor 1.2TSI DSG - SEL for £1050 deposit + 23 x £170/month (PCH - 10,000 miles / year) (£4960 total). Extra miles at 3.5pence + VAT.

Also, only 1 service needed as it's on the long service plan (approx. 20000 miles or 700 days).

With PCH (personal hire contract), pay close attention when you get your insurance, as your not the owner or the registered keeper for the car (some insurers won't cover you if you're not at least the registered keeper). Also you won't see the V5C.

So make sure your specify that when you get your quotes.

(PCP is different as you would be the registered keeper).

700 days/20000 miles.......I wouldn't be lining up for it second hand.

I'd take that 20k service interval with a pinch of salt. Mine works out at 13k.

You may not be the owner but you most definitely are the registered keeper!

And you have to be sent the V5.

I am sorry to contradict you but what I am saying is FACT!

I use a Yeti on PCH - Personal Contract Hire through Skoda Finance and both owner and registered keeper are Skoda Finance (this is also mentioned in the PCH contract and literature your get).

Do not confuse this with Personal Contract Purchase (PCP).

Give Skoda Finance a ring and they will confirm.

I also own a Seat through PCP, and the owner are the Leasing Company but Register Keeper is myself.

Just posting this here to raise awareness so that others don't go through the same problems I had when sorting out insurance (take out insurance then realised it's wrong, and call the insurer to change it, just to be told that they only insure you if you are the registered keeper.)

I have tried to upload a page from the Hire Contract Guide which states this but couldn't work out how to do it.

Just rang Simpsons, no UK centrally held stocks but they would be happy to put in a factory order, current lead times are 8-10 weeks.

Going to ring around some other UK dealers on the off chance one of them has one sat in their compound somewhere, most dealers seem willing to match the Simpsons deals.

Try RRG in Rochdale, they usually have some in. Mine came straight from stock. Only an SE though

I suggest you check with DVSA.

I suggest you check with DVSA.

Unfortunately you are at odds with nearly every lease company. Most retain the V5 and are the registered keepers. This in itself allows them to routinely tax the vehicle as part of the contract. :)

The Police wouldn't be too happy if every time they checked a car on lease they just got the details of the lease or finance company.

Trying to contact them for details of the keeper on a weekend or bank holiday would be a nightmare.

This is the reality! I'm currently with the country's largest car lease company. All they're vehicles are registered with them.

If you get a fine or NIP they contact the lease company who provide the person named on the contract. Simples :)

Edit: just checked their website, they are the WORLDS largest car leasing company. Let's hope they've got it right ;)

Just like all the cars registered to companies.

Hire cars also.

Usually the leasing company will just pay the fines and then charge the hire contract owner a £25 admin fee plus the fine... If you don't pay fines on the spot... Also says it in my contract.

Went to DM Keith in York yesterday with the wife and kids.

Loving the raised ride height, the front and rear seat space is all but identical to our current Octavia estate.

We're just not sure we can give up on the Octavia's boot space just yet.

Think we'll look at the Scout instead and come back to the Yeti when it's bigger brother arrives!

A real shame as the lease deals right now are unmissable, £170 per month (all in inc. deposit and VAT) for a 1.2 TSI (110) or 2.0 CR110 SE-L is a steal.

I suggest you check with DVSA.

I have an Octavia Scout on a Lease contract.

I do not have the V5. VW Financial Services are listed as the Registed Keeper.

It is standard practice in the lease and hire industry that vehicles are registered to the lease/finance company.

It is perfectly legal and from an insurance point of view I had no problem getting cover but I had to tell them it was a lease and I was not the keeper.

As an example, when you take you car abroad, You are legally required to carry the V5 should you need to produce it to the Police. I now have to notify the lease company of my travel and they issue me with a form called a VE103B Which contains details from the V5 to produce to the Police if I get stopped abroad. It is not the V5 but legally shows I am the user of the vehicle and entitled to drive the car and take it out of the UK.

If I am stopped by the Police in the UK they can ask me to produce my Driving Licence, my MOT(if it's required) and my insurance certificate at the roadside or in any case should I not be able to produce it at that time to a Police station within 7 days, by issuing me a HO/RT1 (Form Home Office Road Traffic 1)

They cannot ask me to produce the V5 as I am not the registered keeper. They would need to contact the registered keeper direct, in my case VWFS and make the request to them.

If I wished to assign a personalised registration plate to the car I can do so, but firstly I have to transfer the registration mark to the lease company as they are the Registered keeper. They then, via the DVSA assign the plate to the car. They also charge me a £50 admin fee for the pleasure. Hence why I have not done that on this car.

It may seem slightly odd buts it is all entirely correct and legal I can assure you.

Had my Scout a little over a month.

It's a great car, and the boot is cavernous!
