New Yeti Monte Carlo 'Error ESC'

Featured Replies

Hi, there, I have a 6 month old yeti Monte Carlo 170 PS tdi.

Grateful for any thoughts/ comments on the odd and occasional error message that appears on the MFD.

It sometimes makes a warning tone noise saying 'Error Electronic Stability Control'. I've seen another post mentioning loose battery connection, but I'm not sure that is the answer?

I know if I ring the RAC or garage the error message will fail to display, and this makes me wonder why it randomly pops up?

Have you tried looking at the battery terminal and trying for tightness before discounting that,

or have someone do it at least.

You need to have someone check why the fault is showing if you can not yourself.

Have the Dealership technicians at least check for Error Codes, there is no need to call Skoda Assist.

Yes I've had a look. Seems fine to me. Although that's just my perspective!

Thanks- I think I'll have to contact dealership to check it over. It's not necessarily worrying me, just an odd message to be popping up randomly.

It should not worry you, but it needs sorted out,

you have a Warranty, but somethings are in the Exclusion after 6 months, not that problem though,

but you want any Snagging Faults dealt with and at least on the Skoda System to stop any Skoda or Dealer employee

saying. 'Never heard of that before', or the usual. 'They all do that', sometimes at the same Dealership.

Just a thought - keep your mobile handy and get a photo of it when it does pop up so you can show it if needs be.

Ah, longedge indeed I've tried that. However, it goes as soon as it appears. I will try to snap as fast as I can in future.

Also, I've double checked battery terminal connections, both seem tight and well fitted.

If it is chucking up errors they will be logged in the ECU.

If its under warranty or not just get it to the garage to get it scanned and see what the fault/s is.

Being a Monte Carlo I would have thought it is well inside a warranty?

Could your battery have been low (lowish) at the times you had the message,

car having being sitting a few days or having done only short journeys?

Yes still in warranty as new vehicle.

Not short journey's necessarily, unless the coming home headlights are sapping the battery life each time I lock or unlock the vehicle?

I've heard of taking the negative off for 30 mins and replacing as a sort of 'reboot' ......just not sure about stored stuff like radio stations etc being kept.

My new Monte gives me a message everytime I switch off the engine, telling me to refer to the handbook!!  Myhandbook is almost worn out! :D :D :D

I thought it was about the handbrake, but doesn't appear to relate to that.

Toooooo much technology.  I just want to switch on and go. :p

It's simply a reminder about the car door deadlocks.

It's simply a reminder about the car door deadlocks.

That's what it means, but I disagree it is simple I always think it is a slight annoyance and wonder if it can be eliminated perhaps by VCDS- or re written to say "remember the car has deadlocks".

Goodness, it IS annoying!!  Should say what it means.

Thank you for clarifying!

It warns you about the deadlocks because it is possible to lock a passenger inside the car with no means of escape.  Just covering their tails!

Can't that be overridden from inside at all?

Doesn't the button near the handbrake work then?.

Good question

Extract from handbook:

The door locks are blocked automatically if the vehicle is locked from the out- side. The vehicle cannot be opened from the inside any more.

This fact is pointed out by the following message on the display of the instru- ment cluster after switching out the ignition.

  •  Check SAFELOCK! Owner's manual!

  •  CHECK DEADLOCK

    Switching off
The safe lock can be switched off in one of the following ways.

By locking twice within 2 seconds.
By disabling the interior monitoring » page 56, Interior monitor and towing

    protection.

If the vehicle is locked and the safe securing system is switched off, the door can be opened separately from the inside by a single pull on opening lever.

    Switching on
The safelock switches on automatically the next time the vehicle is locked and unlocked.

    Switch-off display
The indicator light in the driver door flashes for about 2 seconds fast, goes out and starts to flash at longer intervals after about 30 seconds.

    Switch-on display
The indicator light flashes for around 2 seconds in quick succession, after- wards it begins to flash evenly at longer intervals.

WARNING

If the car is locked and the safe securing system activated, no people must

remain in the car as it will then not be possible to either unlock a door or open a window from the inside. The locked doors make it more difficult for rescuers to get into the vehicle in an emergency – risk to life!

Note the WARNING above.

My understanding is that if you lock the doors with a single press of the plip,  then anyone inside the car will not be able to get out because doors and windows are deadlocked.  Two presses on the plip unset the safe lock feature.

The second plip for me simply unlocks the passenger side door.

Never felt the need for so much complication and 'stuff'.

You're talking about opening the car Ryeman. Twoladies is talking about locking the car...

Oh, ok.

I find it difficult to develop OCD needed to master every aspect of these techie modern cars.......it seems to me there is no such thing as too much.
