Thieving Scouse Scum

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd ask all my fellow Skoda owners to keep a look out for our stolen Octavia vRS.

It's a hatchback in black magic, reg no is DF03 NJJ.

We had our house broken into and they stole the keys whilst we were away. Wife is totally gutted and not too sure she wants another one but I'm sure she'll change her mind and any way I need to get my Fabia vRS back off her.

Cheers

Andy

really sorry to hear that andy and also that your 1st post is on such a crappy topic :(

the increasing desirability to these morons of the RS is beginning to concern me a little - god, i hate those thieving scuzzballs.

sorry to hear it.. thats the second nw RS to go in past couple of weeks..

Not good :(

At least it's registered on ISR mate so there's a strong possibility some law abiding citizen (there are some out there y'know) will report it if they see it abandoned in their street.

Fingers crossed for you Andy. Best to Mrs Andy- I know what this kind of thing can do to you.

Does ISR perform a useful function then LL? I admit I didn't renew mine because I was skeptical.

A car like a VRS was probably stolen to order and is probably in a lockup being either dismantled or ringed by now, sadly.

Still at least you should get a new one - got protected NCD?

Well if someone spots a strange or abandoned car, especially a swish new vRS, they get nosey. They see ISR's number etched on the window (or wherever) and call up to say 'There's this car in my street, looks new, but all the doors are unlocked and I reckon it's stolen...'

ISR look up the reg number, and contact the owner to check all's ok. It's made a real difference to the amount of cars returned to their rightful owners.

Sounds good in theory - as long as the car is left obviously abandoned or in suspicious enough circumstances to incite curiosity. Mine has some number etched in it but I think it's just a serial number of sorts, no phone number for Mr. Joe Public to call IIRC. I'll go and look in a minute, while I'm getting the service record to look up the codes as suggested by Denis ... you can see where my lunch time's going ... :( <------ sad git

I didn't renew the ISR fee too (£20 for what???). By my reckoning, the police does the same thing... and I've already paid my taxes for them.

I know it's not strictly the right attitude but if my car got nicked I'm not sure I'd want it back anyway...

Shows how much contact you've had with the feds. By the time they'd bothered to look at the car (probably because it's inserted in the front of the local Comet store) you'll have got a new one.

Cynical, Moi?

Phil

I checked and the phone number is there. I wonder how many members of the public would recognise that's what it's there for, though - probably just think it's the phone number of the glass supplier :(

The Police will do a PNC check on an abandoned vehicle, which will show if it's stolen, assuming PNC has been updated by then. They'll probably not do much else if it doesn't show as stolen, depending on whether it a) represents a hazard to the public B) is blocking the road, etc. In case a) the Fire Brigade will probably be called out, and in case B) the local council.

The Police, as we all know, do sod-all to assist the motorist.

The council will impound the car and charge you for storing it.

The fire brigade are wonderful gorgeous human beings and as such are above reproach.

I'd still stick with ISR as an extra line of defence in this position folks. Firemen aren't gonna bring your car back are they? In my dreams...

Sorry to hear about your RS being nicked Andy the ****!!!!. IMHO the only way to get your car back is to fit a tracker system. I must admit that I am very aware of the attention our cars draw and I have taken the neccessary steps to reduce this.

And you know that for a fact about every police officer do you?

It is true in my personal experience, which isn't everyone's I know. However, I have a few tales to tell from various friends and family members, also from Skoda drivers who ring me on a daily basis whingeing about the various forces around the country and the lack of help they've had, or persecution they've encountered. It's also backed up by comments and true stories from my brother-in-law's youngest brother who is a copper in the Met.

i may have some info on a new security system being fitted atm on octavia's a chap is comming to see me about it, it goes on the lines of if car is stolen you get a text on mobile phone to which you can hear people in your car, also you can activate certain features as dead locking car activating immobiliser etc. sounds pretty good will keep you posted as and when i know more !

activate the central locking, apply the brakes, leave them locked in, regardless of where they are!

... thinking about it, if your mobile gets nicked, you can get it deactivated so it's no use... shame you can't do the same to a car - send a signal to the immobiliser so that the engine will never start again...

yes but it would be quite "foolish" to leave keys for your car and mobile phone in house unattended wouldn't it. btw way i leave the keys in my crappy escort diesel van with a large board on the windscreen "PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ME THE KEYS ARE IN IT" but all they seem to do is nick the board lol.

I used to work for a company that had Escort diesel vans, all of which had Tracker. One was stolen and never recovered ,Tracker was a total waste of money.

If getting a tracker fitted when we get the replacement Octy as insurance are getting us a new as the police have not found it after 14 days so insurance have classed it as a total loss.

As they had broken in to the house and got the keys we were fighting a losing battle anyway.

I worked for a rental company that had all it's prestige vehicles on Tracker - five were stolen during the time I was with them and four were recovered - all within 12 hours. The fifth unit was recovered in Malaga when it arrived out of a container! Worked for us!:)

Insurance have phoned up our dealer and told them to get a new Octy VRS - wife is smiling again!!!!

SpinDrift - glad the insurance comp are playing ball instead of disputing things!

Why don't you ask for a yellow vRS this time? ;)
