Fabia VRS rear offside brake not engaging

Featured Replies

Is there a chance it's linked to the fact that the handbrake doesn't work then?

ABS and handbrake? No not a chance

So I'm looking at having to replace the caliper? Where's the best place to get them from?

Depends on how deep your wallet is, you can get them from the dealer, TPS, or any good motor factor, either independant or national.

There will be significant price differences depending on who supplies them though. Also, if you buy one which comes in the green finish they are usually more expensive.

I had to buy two for my car recently and I went to Dingbro (local motor factor in the West and East coast of Scotland). Fortunately I know one of the lads behind the counter and he got me the unpainted ones which were about £15 a whip cheaper. Lucky for me I had some of the Smoothrite green paint left and was able to paint them myself to match the front.

The caliper part numbers I was charged for were BHN275E and BHN276E, sorry, the invoice doesn't give the manufacturers name, I seem to remember that the boxes were orange and black and each box had "remanufactured caliper" on it. Remember these were unpainted! (not green), I painted them myself.

So, phone around and see who does the best deal for you, best of luck fella!

ABS doesn't effect the handbrake, the rear calipers are well known for seizing up. New ones aren't expensive so just change it.
