VW Emissions Scandal Thread V2

Featured Replies

So Germany's KBA have signed off the fix for the 1.2 Diesels.

The Reuters article says in the likes of the Polo & Ibiza, but that will be Skoda & Audi as well.

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

The VW Group Board and senior management blame everyone,  junior employees, Unions, Suppliers, Dealerships and employees.

They take the big money or they did, chickens are coming home to roost now.

Screwing down suppliers profits and taking bonuses them selves will be a thing of the past.

Biggest manufacturer in the world required fraud and cheats and lies, and that was to Employees, Suppliers and to paying customers.

They never admit fundamental design and manufacturing and component choice and quality control issues.

Decades of these. never admitting and improving, just discontinue, launch new technology. spin this and forget their lemons.

Confusing engine types and names, parts and servicing schedules / guidelines and basically too many confusing instruction for actually simple procedures.

Its just  vehicle manufacturing and retailing and they are like pyramid sellers with finance and smoke and mirrors.

Vehicles overt priced new and still over priced used.

Time they were less full of how good they think they are and start walking the walk.

Some Americans are taking action against Bosch, claiming they were involved in the defeat device.

The old 'Sold to be used in competition only' defense.

'Thunder in the Glens'  this weekend, and there is the wonderful sound of Harley's thumping up the A9 to Aviemore.

Some of those will be using 'competition only parts',

but then so are million of of cars in the UK and the government don't bother too much.

EU Legislation allows the Manufacturers, Importers / wholesalers and Retailers to just get on with flogging parts.

I hope some of the senior management who should have oversight end up in prison if it's proven they should have known.

Far too much taking the mega money for all the responsibility of the position, then teflon shoulders these days.

The sad thing in all this is that as VW pulls its belt in to save money the greatest losses will be the little people. Those that keep their heads down, do a great job but will be the first to go.

The Germans need the Greeks and Italians to keep the euro weak.

VOLKSWAGEN's Media spinners are at it all the time,

currently is is again about the 300 mile range of upcoming Golf EV's.  But then that lets people see just how bad the range was of the ones already on sale.

Not so positive is that there is a fast take up on the Buy Back option in the US of A, well there would be since there is no Approved Fix.

Then VW have the sense to drop their case in South Korea because there was a ban on their cars because they were caught as liars.

Positive story is that sales are up, but then they sell very few and if the price / offers are right they might well punt vehicles.

I read last week where the US Dealers have to wait because they are not getting priority over the customers that lost out.

Ye that will be chocolate.

The VW Crossover looks to have the lines on show that are very much Skoda Kodiaq.

Have the VW Group announced selling this new Skoda Crossover in North America yet?

Obviously a Czech car built in the US will not be a Volkswagen or be using VW engines or other parts.

'Simply Clever' these Germans.

For VW to get back in the U.S. I suspect their best strategy would be via the electric motor that they are planning.

Battery/fuel cell have a greater numerical future than diesel, I recon.

Volkswagen's Board must reckon that as well.

But currently they can talk the talk but not walk the walk, and it is about building and turning out those models, so right now they need to just get on with trying to flog petrols with electric motors.

Are buyers ready to trust the VW Group or is it just a wish and prayer on the part of the VW's Board?

VW are so far behind the other manufacturers with their new technology and production and not only the tip manufacturers of hybrids like Toyota or Honda,

Kia / Hyundai and others.

Action by solicitors.

I have checked back and find I have not heard from the solicitors I chose from those soliciting,  for almost 6 months, so I have just e mailed them to find out what they have been doing, plus  of course, their current  situation. What  have others had or not had  from the solicitors they chose, mine are Leigh Day.

The wheels may grind slowly but they get there eventually.

Admissions and guilt from U.S. litigation will be examined for usefulness in other jurisdictions, I suspect, and that's probably what is holding up action in the UK, EU, AU etc.

They want ALL the bullets.

yes, agreed , may be but not too much to ask to be told what they are doing, especially after 6 months of  silence.  And they know  some of us are  receiving the letters  re the changes so I would have expected to be advised what the implications could be if one agreed  or denied the changes to be made, bearing in mind the letters say no change in performance, mpg etc.  What does that mean IF turns out to be untrue ( as is most likely? )

I assume the 'device' was fitted to all of this engines, irrespective of the market they were headed to, simply for simplicity on the production line.

If the device was purely designed for passing Californian air quality standards for emissions then VW's claim that its removal from engines in the UK, EU, AU etc will have no effect on 'on road' behaviour would be reasonable and thus there would be nothing (other than stress and inconvenience) to claim for.

I'm also assuming that without the device when tested in the (unrealistic) certification process, they would pass (just) otherwise there claim of no effect doesn't make sense to me.

In all markets, I would expect, penalties will apply if only for corporate misbehaviour.
