If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

I must look, if I can, as to what gas is in my Yeti, Sept 2016.  One of the delays in manufacture was stated as being the specification and availability of the gas in the AC unit.  This affected not just my order according to my dealer.

No mention that several German states hold shares in VWG so there might just be a tendency toward bias?

Just received another 'put it right' letter. Basically sit tight and do nothing!

Blowback over Brexit?.

Seems the British government isn't going to let VW off lightly

From the other side of the world you may not have noticed but our current government, and in partnership with the LibDems in the previous 5 year spell, do not manage to do much of anything they say they do ie get the economy back on track, but instead preside over a doubling of the National debt, support the logical remain in the EU, and then lose their leader in their debacle.

Being sneaky they might well be using this as a bargaining chip, ie you Germans force the other EU countries to accept at least a trade deal in cars, and hopefully motorcycles too, let us hope we get some concessions to save as much as possible of the UK's 1.6M car production and not pay completely horrendous prices for new cars post currency fall and if we do get customs tariffs introduced.

Cannot think of many VWs I would actually want but maybe a Cupra which would  be in the same boat except it would be petrol naturally.

My son and daughter-in-law own a house in London N4 so I have a leg in the UK.

Northern Ireland and Scotland are not at all happy it seems.......I wouldn't be either the way our $A (+ others) is strengthening against the £.

We'll see even less of them out here the way things are going.

Don't upset the Europeans might be good advice..............(VW?)

Too late. They are right ****ed off at our BREXIT vote and will happily see the UK squirm like a fish on a hook over it its reckoned. The Euro is now worth over 90 pence it is scary to see!

$US 'parity' perhaps, that'll keep the kids at home.

Already happened to the Euro at some FX places.  Just need Hammond or May to open their mouth again and it could fall another 2% as is has each time in the last couple of months.

Higher diesel prices usually means lower emissions via less driving so job done.

This seems to be a serious proposition for ethanol production

Not much use to the Volkswagen Group that more than 12 months on from being named and shamed in the US have fixed nothing,

and around the rest of the world are still using paying customers as road test dummies.

They are talking big on new technology and electric and extending range while cutting back on Research & Development and production.

Painting the deck chairs on the Titanic type thing.

Like all your battery/other links, they are just 'interesting lab effects' from funding seekers with no realistic commercial prospect, if you read/understand the process involved, you'd quickly see why it would use more energy to make than it would yield.

US settlement agreed it seems

Reuters reports that owners will receive the trade-in value for vehicles, assessed at pre-scandal levels, along with between $5,100 and $10,000 additional compensation.

Breyer said that the offer “adequately and fairly compensates” owners, adding that immediate settlement is preferable to drawn-out lawsuits.

Owners that decline the buy-back will be offered modifications instead.

Can you imagine that sort of deal over here, nae chance

The fines and penalties might be big but the additional number of cars needing scrapped and parted are not that many because really the VWG never sold that many in North America. The number involved in the Defeat Device scandal is supposedly around half a million.

Just imagine how many vehicles are scrapped anyway every year in the US.

EU fears VW diesel fixes could damage engines

The European Commission fears steps taken by Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) to refit polluting diesel cars may damage the vehicles' engines, the Spiegel magazine reported, citing unidentified staff at the European Union's executive branch.

Software updates carried out by Volkswagen (VW) could inflict greater stress on engine components, Spiegel cited a member of staff at the Brussels-based Commission as saying.

Commission officials are basing their concerns on feedback from experts at the "Vela" emissions laboratory in northern Italy.

At my chiropractor last night and the receptionist said " i took my A4 in on monday" , and the bloody thing is not running right! The emmissions light came up and it went into limp mode, she had her a4 in for the update ecu for the 2.0 engine and they said " nothing to do with us " ( audi llandudno) , they where going to charge her for the dpf burn out, so whatever is done the system can not get rid of the soot as it used to do so potentially a lot of dead or blocked dpfs on the way i reckon, well its just made me even more sure not to let vw near mine ! Posted yesterday in wrong place !

The "fix" must be to do more NOX/PM reprocessing so will utilise certain components and sub systems a bit more than before, EGR presumably.  I appreciate that you may not want the fix to the EMU to trigger faults in other components and if you are mainly just driving around the quite parts of Mid, North or West Wales where there is very low population density but the reason for the fix is the contribution to pre-mature deaths that NOX and PMs causes in high population density, thought to be around 30,000 a year in the UK, so it is a question of whether you put yourself first or others.

The VW-Audi-SEAT-SKODA fixes should cover consequential damage, component life shortening as well as the actual "fix" to bring the vehicle closer to its stated emission levels of NOX and VAG must be forced to agree that if this fix does cause the EGR components to fail in 12 months or so following the fix then VAG pick up the tab for this too, it might encourage owners to hurry up and get the fix which benefits the air breathers in the cities where the non-compliant cars drive which is the aim of the exercise.

The U.S. certification process is so demanding and time consuming there is little choice left in their passenger car range.

At least things are going on behind the scenes.

Even if it is just to find out how every senior person is Useless/ Stupid, or just was Deaf Dumb & Blind to everything that goes on with the Volkswagen Group.

Well I waved goodbye to my VW on Friday, and took on an ictdi Honda.... no dodgy dpf insight. Quite too...... despite being older, less creaking than the Golf too..... thank goodness not everything is a reliable as a golf...... some are better!
