In other words VW will fight you in court were you don't have the resources to do so. They say it's fixed so everyone experiencing otherwise must be mad. Hope all these mad people spend their money elsewhere when it comes time for a new car.

Sounds a bit like the British Government with Legal Aid and other such recent measures, supporting the JAM members in our Society.

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

Not many people believe the WLTP figures either, no doubt VW would perform all theirs downhill

What would be ideal is an EU test track and drivers to deliver independent testing on economy and emissions that were done on say 3-4 separate days and then averaged out.

At the moment VW are right up there with bankers and we all know what that rhymes with

If the cheat was purely for Euro6 compliance (U.S.) then its removal outside of the U.S. is arguably unnecessary as those vehicles meet the then Euro5 standard with or without it.............?

You should have pointed this out to VW Group some time ago, it would have saved them a hell of a lot of trouble and effort. Wonder why they didn't realise that their cars would pass without cheating?

Are you saying the cheat was needed for euro5?.

I understood it was only for the stricter U.S. standards and thus the reason VW's have always maintained it wasn't illegal outside of the U.S. and also not mandatory for its removal in the U.K. for instance.

VW admitted to using the cheat in EU testing during the Panorama programme, watch it all, or from about 12 minutes in for the statements from VW:

If they didn't need to use it, but did anyway, that's an astonishing level of stupidity, which I think few other than George would seriously consider VW capable of.

Im simply accepting that VW, having been caught out and suffering such worldwide adverse publicity didn't double down and the lie over legality outside of the U.S.   Remember, they still claim it's (unnecessary?) removal in the U.K. will have no negative affect.

VW's defence in civil actions in Europe and Australia is that it wasn't needed for the lower Euro5.......that, of course only holds true if it was unnecessarily installed for simplicity of manufacture and supply (also, spare parts might have had to explain why there was a different ecu for America if, as boasted, the European version would comply without a DEF)

This will come out in the civil actions one way or the other.

No, I disagree. Can you cite where they say this?

Instead, they claim that it wasn't actually illegal to do what they did (due to crappy law-writing by the EU).

I'm not into tv exposes because I don't accept that they understand that all diesels are many times more (than 2.5 times) polluting under real world conditions compared to certification testing .....just not 35 times over.

There are owners who have had it removed and claim no difference, but then there is the Pistonheads before and after report which was counter to that.

Who knows

Time will tell

VW. And it would be odd if a spokesman of theirs told a 'tv expose' something that was worse for them than the truth, wouldn't it?

Wino,

VW Groups stupidity should surprise nobody, no idea why you want to bring my name into it, they are the ones that have plead guilty to fraud and deception and Conspiracy to defraud, i just follow their lies and cheats and loss of memory among the board and senior management and the retired or sacked.

Euro 5 was the start of the new era of cheats, then they have errors / mistakes / must do betters.

No more Das Auto, just honesty.

Sorry I didn't notice who signed the statement from VW.

I take TV documentaries with a grain of salt unless it's quoted in a court as evidence of guilt.

Seriously? You think that in the circumstances Panorama would risk making up a statement? !

Stefan Jacoby the boss of VW USA 2007-2010, introduced the TDI's, then went to head VOLVO, then GM International.

(Once predicted to take over overall charge of the VW Group, a VW man through and through.)

25 Years with VW, and some years with others....

Is he a 'Whistle Blower', or a suspect of being in on the conspiracy?

2nd Video jump to 24 minutes maybe, but here is a man that knows VW inside out.....

Not like Mr Paul Willis CEO VW UK that seems to say he was in Sales and knows nothing, just what he gets told..

'Chair of the Supervisory Board'   That will be the people that were in charge of the company, The Supervisory Board'.   "Heard Rumours".  LOL @ FERDINARD PIECH.  Trying to be a Whistle Blower and get some deal it looks like.

So they were the ones to find out the truth behind rumours were they not.

?

How can this 'Man at the helm'  think he can walk away, surely anything he gets from the sale of shares should be seized,

he is where 'The Buck Stops'.  Top Man, top Chair of the 3 Monkeys.

Someone that started with VW only in 2012 is held in a US Jail pre trial and the likes of those 'At it way back at the very beginning of defeat devices being approved swan around living the high life'.

Sometimes you hear people say "the buck stops with me"

Easy to say, as long as you're not in America, it seems.

I wonder now how many are 'Getting their affairs in order', maybe not just financial & family,

but visiting doctors of medicine that are 'treating them for their health issues, real or imaginary that means extradition to the US can not happen,

or they have Dementia Onset'.

(VW Supervisory Board members that will no longer travel to the US for Motorshows, Launches or even just on business / leisure.)

There was quite a good article aired on Diesels & emissions on Radio 4 today at about 12.40 pm.

(Sorry no link as mobile right now.)
