VW Emissions Scandal Thread V2

Featured Replies

The obvious candidates would be te ones who passed the APPLICABLE Californian standards without SCR, which was what amazed other manufacturers and making them wonder just how it was done.

I doubt if any other passenger car manufacturer achieved the impossible with the EGR system.

It'd be the first place to look.

This is an American crime but done by Europeans.

About a year ago VW stated that in Europe it wasn't illegal (the cheat encryption) ........I suspect a language misinterpretation, meaning not actually needed for meeting Euro5.

Criminal 'behaviour' still stands though.

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

Reading lots of people having had the fix finding their EGR coolers failing not long afterwards and fighting VW to get it replaced FOC.

Seems to be common with 1.2 and 1.6 TDI

I'd be giving my EGR equipped car the heave ho and use my grumpiness to get a great SCR deal as a form of moral compensation.

It looks to me that sales of diesels in and around the London area will cease, values will plummet and the rest of the country follow suit. When Khan's message and intentions get well known, who would buy a diesel. And who would take one in part-exchange?

looks that way! http://www.autocar.co.uk/opinion/industry/opinion-it-time-say-goodbye-diesel

Not wanting to be seen as leaders, I guess eventually the nation's polies will confirm the reality with backup legislation.

Jumping on a bandwagon is something they're generally pretty good at.

Have you got any evidence of this? I've followed the issue at arm's length but not seen statements like that before on any of the forum's I've visited

Groups easy enough to find, was a few posts last week.

1.2 & 1.6 TDI VW's are being done,

nobody has replied to my post in this section asking of any Skoda Owners that have had a 1.2 or 1.6 in.

Nothing heard, to date, on my 1.6 Skoda being done.

perhaps we should have a VOTE (n0 not brexit) on positive or negative results from those having the FIX

There are more than one 2.0tdi Fix threads in the Octavia, Yeti & Superb Sections, then a engine fix thread in the Motoring News.

Maybe others elsewhere.

Would a thread asking those that have had 2.0TDI's in and had The Fix' get the answers on their experiences of their vehicles before and after & all in one thread.

yes I think this would be a good and helpful topic for an update info on the FIX

I find it amusing that a defence Lawyer for VW or VW Employees is saying that VW charges in the US breach the German constitution.

The cheek of them....

I guess it would be covered in the export license fine print for 'sovereign' protection........'thou shall not breach' catch all

And this makes for interesting reading and includes ridiculous comments by  V A G  who say as the cheat software was  inserted by low grade employees ??, V A G are not responsible!1.

Heh! They would deserve a fine for letting junior staff deploy unapproved software into millions of cars across all their brands if true.

It's at least consistent with the U.S. financial industry escaping any jail time .........and being rewarded!
