This is quite interesting - a review of the evidence with IMO some proper statistical rigour

Headline writers love KILL ....just 4 letters and fits in nicely.

I don't take much interest in their headline 'facts' which has more to do with the decline in newspaper sales than much of use to the general public.

I would think it reasonable to assume negative consequences flow from poor air quality and trying to be definitive is a waste of time.

Lawyers are hovering.....

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

Very interesting indeed!. Maybe as the result of the E U's threats and nastiness to the UK ,we should ban forthwith all VAG import of vehicles  coming into  the UK , ( communications to  be in ENGLISH ) and on the grounds of being against OUR interests. With more to follow!

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally AUTOCAR have done the testing and published results of Before & After with the VW Fix.

Covered the VW Emissions Scandal with some articles that might reach the wider public in the UK.

Someone can maybe link the articles.

cheers.

No None, VW seem to think that if only 1% report they are unhappy (or as the VW person says 'have issues') so that makes 99% satisfied.

That as usual is VW spinning something from a simplification of figures they compile.

Since Paul Willis CEO VW UK said 20,000 car a week were having the Fix has that dropped in numbers because many seem not to be having it done and if 20,000 a week were then all that are getting 'The Fix' have surely had it.

I think it's actually a case of comparing oranges and apples.

The tests that VW had to pass to say 'everything's OK now' would have been the same as before, EU5 emissions test cycle and whatever the EU do for mpg/CO2. So the fix would have been optimised to not be worse on those.

This testing by Autocar was more 'real world' as far as I could gather at a very brief glance.

VW never explained that there would be 'no adverse affect' guaranteed only when tested in lab conditions like with a EU Test, and like before.

Many seem to have thought that no loss of power or no worse fuel consumption meant when driving their vehicle on roads as they did from 2009 on to the time that 'The Fix' then after the Fix.

Silly people.

Another lawyers picknic splitting hairs.

Still years to go it seems.

Fiat-Chrysler joining VW in the dock....

US government sues Fiat Chrysler over excess emissions

The U.S. government has filed a civil lawsuit accusing Fiat Chrysler Automobiles of using software to bypass emission controls in diesel vehicles, the Environmental Protection Agency said on Tuesday.  The U.S. Justice Department suit is a procedural step that may ramp up pressure on Fiat Chrysler. The suit could ultimately help lead to a settlement, as in an earlier probe of rival Volkswagen that will cost VW up to $25 billion, but which affected a much larger number of vehicles.  VW admitted to intentionally cheating while Fiat Chrysler denies wrongdoing. It did not immediately comment on Tuesday.  Fiat Chrysler shares fell 3 percent in the minutes after Reuters' report of the suit and were last down 2.4 percent at $10.50 in midday U.S. trading.

Any Government Authority in France or any Organisation / Individuals legal actions against the VW Group for Fraud / Deception which earned the Group or Investers lots of money will maybe be a game changer.

Lets see what the next UK Government do about the VW Group and reports of UK Owners suffering poorer performance or fuel costs after having The Fix carried out that was approved by German Authorities.

The link doesn't work for me.

Sorry about that, does it not open as a file?

If you just type into google what shows in 'green' you will be able to read the article....

Dropped my Superb off for a service this morning. The service guy there told me an emissions upgrade mk II is on the way and letters will be going out soon. Apparently it involves a software update plus some added pipework no other details. Anybody else heard of this? I declined the present software upgrade.

If this is true it means what changes that have been  so far have proved ineffective and presumably the vehicles already changed will have to be done again. As before I will sit aside to see what the effect of the new modifications have  on mpg, emissions and engine performance, especially at low revs.  And if there are new modifications it also means we can't trust what V A G tell us,probably no more now than in the past?.

All that effort by the VW Group to have it as the VW Scandal and try to have the public not think Audi.

Now even Germany could no longer assist the VW Group in that and the Audi A8 in Europe seems to be causing some pain for the VW Group.

You can fool some of the people some of the time but it looks like the VW's caught again as just trying to play stupid in the hope that everyone else is.
