VW Emissions Scandal Thread V2

Point to Ponder:

The fix for my Fabia 1.6 105HP diesel includes adding 2 flow sensors + a remap, this adds 2 extra points of potential failure. I asked my local Skoda dealer if these parts were guarenteed for life and the reply was no.  So compensation should be paid just incase this happens?

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

Compensation should cover a loss that has occurred, not what may or may not happen in the future....

The rest of the car isn't warranteed for life so why should 2 sensors? They will be covered by the standard 2yr warranty on parts.

Poached from the rival Daimler so that will be Daimler-Mercedes,  like the media say VW when we know it is VW-Audi (Porsche etc)

Anyway Daimler Mercedes have their own issues being investigated but Mercedes will be happy that Mercedes is not mentioned too often.

I have received the letter from Skoda but I think I will wait a while before my 170PS is done - it's one of the best engines I've ever had, and I don't want to spoil the driving experience.

I Agree, not got a letter asking me to come in yet but when I do my 170's not going in for the Skoda remap.

Wonder if she wasn't willing to keep the corporate line?

My mate got his recall notice for his 2010 passat 170. I recommended to him he doesn't bother. Car has 110k on the clock and is running fine, don't see any point in having unnecessary work done.

That Pistonheads graph would put you off

'Just a few rogue employees'.

Well sometime someone in the Senior Management must surely have to face up to the Justice System in Germany.

Well only if some laws were broken, but fraud sounds like an illegal activity.

The 'Engineers engineer',  ask him anything about Hyundai or even a Honda and he could tell you everything,

ask about a VW and 'I know nothing!'  Was not there, someone else did it!.

Many fingers in the VW pie makes it political also.

If Martin Winterkorn is ever in court being prosecuted they can show the likes of this video to let people see the man was deluded and out of touch.

Knew nothing about anything VW were doing, only found out when the news of an emissions scandal broke.

The noose is tightening, sometime last year one London Borough , Islington, placed  a 50%  hike on Residents' Parking permits, now Westminster have whacked a 50% increase on parking  charges for diesel cars, ie £ 7.25 per HOUR!!.  Btw, how does the  Council know if the vehicle is  diesel , unless it checks on every registration which presumably has to be revealed by the driver. And with Citizen Khan  having in mind extending the  " congestion " zone to the best part of London, ie  within the North and South Circulars and trying  to get the Govt. to introduce a diesel scrappage scheme, the days of diesels must surely be numbered ?.      http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/drivers-of-polluting-diesel-cars-to-be-hit-with-50-per-cent-parking-surcharge/ar-AAmkGWd?ocid=iefvrt

I had an e mail from the lawyers who I chose sometime back to act on my behalf, ( along  with hundreds of others), and was told many lawyer firms are getting together to act collectively and was told a concerning statement over which  I have asked for clarification, the statement being able to act on behalf of persons who bought their vehicle on or after Oct ? 2014  or if before,  if they had finance with V A G. IF that is the case, many like myself will  not be able to be represented and I cannot see the reasoning behind the limitation. Explanation awaited from Leigh Day.

For parking or access to area the Registration Number is giving the same information as you purchase a ticket using a phone and giving the reg & also as ANPR or Congestion Charge.  Parking Warden hand helds can tell them as well a vehicles details.

Higher parking charges will affect many and then there are plenty that no matter how expensive it is makes no change if wealthy enough,

so like 'Speeding Fines being means tested' Means test the parking charge to the 'Taxable income of the Registered keeper' or Business Owners'. The DVLA / DfT / Local Authority /HMRC can do joined up Government as they have the information

& the DVLA have the Registered Keepers Bank Details from the VED in many cases.

As to actions against VW Group if the finance is paid then they are no longer the owners and the owner might well be able to take action.

Check that.

If Finance is still outstanding and from VW then they do not want to take action against VW obviously, and they do own many VW Group lease of financed vehicles,

but if that is only 3 years of financing that will be finished be next year or so.

Thanks, interesting in that 4 times as many have decided to ditch VAG products as those who have decided to stay with the brand, hardly something to be pleased or crow about, I would have thought.  Plus, how many of the remaing dribble of 20%  are switching to petrol  engined S U V's?

IF  the dealers in America are down to such low  customer usage, I would anticipate many will go bust or jack in V A G dealerships. And don't forget, the S U V's are  SKODA's, which will take some explaining by the dealers bearing in mind  Skodas have not been sold in The States up till now. Also, Trump may  get involved and boot the lot out, B M W's facing a 35% hike if made in Mexico, and I don't think he is too fond of Frau Merkel anyway.

I think they are referring to the "three row" as VW's Tiguan and Atlas.

For America: keep it VW, keep it simple.

As far as the average American is concerned, BMW and Mercedes are American made .........in the non-unionised 'south' and subsidised by the winning state's taxpayers for the employment outcome.

Capitalism and trade aren't really pure.
