Not a stupid man, or one that never knew what was happening all around him for the past 20 years. Not senile or Deaf / Blind.

I would put a Cash Money bet on him not being in charge for the next 3 years to retire from the job he is now in.

Surely the knock on the door in the early morning is coming and the USA asking for him to be extradited.

Doubt whether the Germans are as stupid as the UK Government , regarding its subservient arrangement with the Most Power- USA.( Do what I say, not do what I Do Country)

FO USA , you are not squeaky clean in your industries, you just like to bully others into submission.

Yet USA continues to pollute at a greater level ( in many ways) at an unholy level, locally and throughout the world.

No arrests , imprisonment or dismissals from position there.

I keep looking for any up to date story on Stefan Jacoby who was CEO of VW North America 2007-2010, after having been at the top with Mitsubishi previously,

then head of Volvo for Geely when leaving VW Group, then going on the the top at GM International.

There is a person that must know so much since he was with VW from 1985 then the one out there doing the presentations as the face of VW in the USA, launching Green Diesel engines in the US as a VW Group employee with all the answers to journalists questions.

Also a member of the VW Management Board.

Autocar / Haymarket Media Group / Lord Michael Heseltine's company are unreal.

At every chance they try to confuse the issue and spin some way that VW Group would like.

What is this 'Optional SCR system'.   VW Group fitted the Ad-Blue system and the optional bit was did people opt to buy or lease TDI's with the SCR system.

Today another member has posted that their 1.6TDI CR Fabia went in for a service and came out with The Fix, no permission given.

EDIT.

Do Autocar Editors not read articles they are publishing in their journal, or even after published,

it was under 2% in this article vrskeith linked, and fewer than 1% in the article last week, & that is under 2%, but both are fictional numbers from Paul Willis VW CEO or the Corporation.

He is absolutely right.

In the UK the tax on diesel is the same as petrol ie 58p a litre.  Other countries should follow suit though, as with all these matters, there could be issues with refinery capacity of each type of fuel.  Possible good for North Sea oil which is one of the lighter crudes (when it is working as half of it is not getting ashore at the moment as there is a crack in the main pipeline to shoreside).

40% of North Sea oil to Grangemouth coming through a 36" Pipeline built in 1975 which BP sold 6 weeks ago to Ineos looks like it is going to cost 20 million squids a day to the Oil and Gas industry as 80 North Sea rigs have to stop producing.

That will be a lot more to the UK Treasury as well

So we will get a real idea soon if it is just 1 5 cm hairline crack or if anymore will need attention, and a whole new pipeline built from St Fergus to Grangemouth.

Maybe UK Road and other fuel prices will be taking a temporary jump, and later the need to go higher for the UK Government to give more tax breaks to the UK refiners and producers to renew pipelines.

As it is the UK drivers have been ripped off for decades with the retail price of diesel which should have stayed lower than petrol.

We will find out soon enough if it is only a 3 pence a litre rise, and if just a temporary rise in fuel costs in the UK.

That might be the cheat using the DSG in test mode that has been getting investigated for a good while now.

Handy use of 'Coasting' during testing.

I use to regularly use Neutral at speed when driving with older versions on the 7 speed dry clutch DSG and the newer owns, fitted to the 1.6 wiesel Octy 3, would go in to cruise ie revs drop to tick over, down hills which were steep enough, the "test" mode sound interesting and another aspect to fine and prosecute VW Group for deception in the government testing.  More to come on this story it seems.

Advertised features won’t be problematic.

Received a text from Islington Council the other day informing me that from 1st Jan 2018 parking for diesel cars will be increased by £2 per hour. The last time I parked there was to move a machine from Islington to Waltham Abbey, so I won't need to park there again. 2 hours parking cost £9.80, now that will be £13.80.

So Parking Permits with Exclusions, and do the extra parking diesel surcharge have exclusions,

and is there anything that has any affect on stopping those travelling in and about that a few quid or even more a day cause no issues to as it is just money.

Charge it to the customer, or even the council / ie tax payer.

http://islington.gov.uk/parking/parking-permits/diesel-surcharges

When parking in the street on a meter in Islington you can't put money in a machine any more, you have to pay with your phone, Reg no, make colour, number of the parking bay, how long you want to park for (up to 2 hrs) pay with credit or debit card. They know my car is a diesel, so if I do have park there again I will have to pay the surcharge. It's no real problem for me as the costs will be passed on to my customer.

The VW scandal knock on effect is killing other marques also, Kia has announced it's Kia Rio & Venga diesel models are being withdrawn from the UK because of low sales.

I've just got a Kia Niro Hybrid SUV (not quite ready for a full on BEV yet in my liking/price range , well my missus isn't ) I noticed the Sportage diesel model with all the bells & whistles was being discounted too.

Dodgy reporting in there; I wonder if the lawyers know any better than the journalists.

"Volkswagen has said that about 11 million cars worldwide – and 1.2 million in the UK – were fitted with software that cheated diesel emissions tests designed to limit noxious car fumes and carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution."

I don't think they said that, because it isn't right.

This scandal (as far as UK owners are concerned) was about the EU5 emissions test cheating, nothing to do with CO2, which has no limits in EU5 testing (see here, and remember that CO is not CO2).

The cheat software actually lowered CO2 production a little, hence the worsening of mpg observed by many with the fix.

Good luck...

'British car owners',

That must be owners of cars that are in Britian,  as VW Group cars are not British Cars, none being manufactured in Britain,

and not all the owners will be British.

So right there is a wording issue that needs cleared up, before even is it actually 50,000 owners of Euro 5 TDI's Registered in the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland?

?

Are there no Light Commercial / Van / Minibus owners (drivers) signed up with these lawyers?

Many vehicles in the 1.2 Million are not 'cars'.

Edited by AwaoffSki

Personally I don’t see the point in registering with these lawyers. Any judgement made against VAG is bound to open the doors to compensation for all affected parties, whether or not they are signed up. Just look at the banks  ppp compensation scheme which started as a private. class action. Why give away 30% to the lawyers.
