Just wondering. My vRS is currently at 282bhp with the changed downpipe and intercooler and a few other bits (see project thread) but what makes one stage 3 and how far could the engine go? I'm perfectly happy with the power as it is as any more may ruin everyday driveability unless I bought a diff but I'm just curious.

Pre-facelift or facelift? Petrol or diesel, auto or manual?

I've assumed it is a FL (2009>) and petrol but you can go back and change the selection criteria.

FOr TFSI Stage 3 350 bhp 347 lb ft of torque ,stage 4 438 bhp 410 lb ft of torque and stage 5  503 bhp 460 bhp . This is with Revo which I had and was brilliant , although I only had stage 1 with 243 bhp and 333 lb ft of torque, which is more than Shark, Simon even stuck it on his rollers  as he could not believe it and it made more on his rollers    Some show nm rather than lb ft as it looks more ie 400 nm is 295 lb ft . You need a quaife diff for 3 and above and look at gearbox although the dsg can take more. .Stage 2 and above is more hardwear . Normally one is a map and a better panel filter, 2 is cold filter and freer exhaust, stage 3 decat or sports cat exhaust with different down pipe or better still full exhaust plus an intercooler. So your not that far off. I don't know what 4 and 5 entails hardware wise  but assume different turbo K04 . I hope your brakes and suspension is upgraded too . • 3071R External Wastegate Turbo Kit with associated hardware for fitting and installation
• RS4/R8 injectors
• 3.0"Turbo back exhaust without pre-cat and with decat (For Off-Road use only) or highflow catalytic convertor
• Cold Air Intake with correctly scaled MAF housing
• uprated or additional intercooler (S3 uses larger stock IC but additional IC is recommended)
• highflow mechanical fuel pump
• uprated intank fuel pump
• uprated engine internals (rods, pistons. Revo recommend keeping stock compression)
• Uprated Valve-train (to support 8000rpm)
• Uprated Engine Mounts 
• PCV Revamp kit
• Uprated Brakes
• NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
• Uprated Clutch

i'd say u'll need a larger turbo.

if u've got a pre-facelift, then high pressure fuel pump aswell.

Hopefully to save confusion but I gather you meant to put lb ft instead of bhp on the bit I highlighted

It's a 59 plate so 2.0 TSI with downpipe and S3 Intercooler and uprated clutch. So I'm guessing turbo and diff would be next? What turbo's are out there? It's currently got a Shark map on it which is very good.

KO4 Turbo, believe the TSI already has the HPFP...its the KO3S stock turbo that holds it back from going beyond 2+

As others have said you'd need a full exhaust system with sports cat or cat delete to support stage 3. You seem to have the other supporting upgrades and assume you have an uprated air filter system.

350hp and lots of torque highly realistic seeing as a stock KO4 2.0 TSI can map to 310/315hp without any other supporting upgrades.

Thanks. Exhaust has been on the cards for a while as the last owner did the downpipe as it's a requirement for stage 2 but didn't get the full system. Would like a bit more noise too.
