Had my car 3 days and..

Featured Replies

So I bought a fabia vrs from a car supermarket.

Pick up was delayed a week due to fitting of a new mechatronic unit.

From picking the car up within 5 minutes the dsg was not sure what gear it wanted and didn't display a number next to what drive mode I was in. Did this in sport and drive. Not ideal in the fast lane on the M1..

Gave it time as its a new mechatronic and we are getting know each other.

2nd day of owning car. Go to set off from a junction. Esc warning light pings at me, TPM light on and it revved but didn't go. Let go of throttle and applied again and it went. :/

Couple of low gear hiccups from the dsg not selecting gears. EGM light came on. Disappeared later on. Right after I'd booked into skoda for diagnostic on Monday and the car supermarket Tuesday. Drove great after

Yesterday... Had a right good drive to the golf course and back, no issues at all. Awesome, loved the car, loved driving it, fell in love. Went to pick the missus up from her nail appointment. No start.

Put key in ignition, came up esc warning, P symbol on DSG flashing, won't turn over. Removed fuse, nothing, disconnect battery. Fault gone but won't turn over and all lights and screens turn off.

Not a fantastic experience and so disappointed. It's a great car when it works.

Having RAC out tomorrow. Will probably be handing the car back and looking at getting one direct with skoda.

I would reject it as well. You now know you love the model so find a "proper" one. Good luck.

FN61 BZM DONT BUY!

Going to inform the finance company tomorrow of my intentions. Ask about keeping the loan open to use on a VRS I've spotted at Skoda Chesterfield but i assume I will have to reapply for finance and the return won't be quick and smooth. I can dream though. The car is everything I want, well priced, nippy motor!

Gutted for you mate. Glad it's not put you off another one though! Yea, I think you may have to do new application in regards to the finance. If it's the same company, you may not have to do full application though. Good luck.

This is why I'd buy cars at this spec direct from a dealers.

Best of luck with the new'un! Don't let this incident put you off the brand as you're gonna find a lemon in every large bowl of sweet tasting fruit!

And no oil under engine bay seen by Volkspeed. So positive out come.

glad its sorted :)

I traded my 62 plate in last month for an octavia as I wanted a bigger car due to my Mrs due to give birth shortly. I'd make sure you run the car and check for oil usage issues as soon as possible so it could be sorted under warranty from where you bought it. Mine was resolved with oil jets. Went from half a litre every 400 miles to doing 6k miles and not needing to be topped up. This is when I traded it in.

Plugs I'd changed at the most every 20k as 40k is too late if the plugs on its way out

Glad you got it all resolved :)

Keeping a close eye on the oil. So far so good after 400 miles. But it'll get looked at during my fortnightly Hoover and wipe down.

Must of read everything on this forum so well prepared on this fantastic but could be problematic engine!

Hopefully Skoda bring out a new VRS for me to buy when I'm done with this!

Bit of an update.

Misfiring came back. It was returned, and a broken wire was found in the maf sensor. That was over a month ago now.

No misfiring since.

There was a severe knocking at the front under load and when braking after that. Gearbox mount bushing was tatered.

Car was to be returned with this issue but repaired out of my own pocket as it was annoying and undriveable.

Car went into limp mode a week ago. Car is under after market warranty with TWG.

Had fault code P10A4

Luckily warranty company coughed up £716 for a new throttle body. ( not sure which TB, I'm told there is two. But it was the most expensive one.)

Anyway. Car wouldn't go over 3k revs just like limp mode again but without EML. took it to garage again. Me and him had a drive around and it all opened up for him. Go figure! Told me to leave it with him tomorrow. No charge.

After that I took it out on a spirited drive. All is well!?!?!?

Putting it down positively to a brain fart of the car after being in limp mode for 5 days.

Thoughts? Im not giving up on the car just yet. Too much love. But I am getting closer to rejecting it with the finance company.

Another update.

Someone's Mrs was bladdered and drove into my car.

Drivers side rear panel is dented and scratched. Back wheel is bent inwards. It's just been recovered for repair or written off. Joys....

I hope she gets everything, including the kitchen sink thrown at her.

Really sorry to hear this mate.

Ouch! I've just seen the photos on the Facebook page (I take it it's you - unless two MKII vRS owners have been scudded in the same place by a drink driver - which would be a bit of a coincidence!).

Yeah that was me. Managed to fit all my VRS history in this one short post! All negative mind.

If it ends up a write off, I'll replace it with another though.

Sorry to hear this.

Is your own insurance company being OK with it, and have you got a hire car to keep you mobile?

At the moment they seem to be fine. Very helpful. I'm with that company that makes you think of ships. They arranged for the car to be recovered which they did this afternoon.

I haven't a car at the minute but they have passed me on to a accident management company which will provide one (like for like) once both insurers have spoke to each other so they know they will get paid.

Contacted finance company and gap insurance just incase of write off and to speed things up if it is.

Just hope the accident management co is no A*****y, if the 3rd part don't cough up, they may come after you.

Check it out on Google, just a heads up.

Got the third party to supply now. I've not heard anything from my insurance at all today.

I phoned their insurance up and they are supplying. They've sent somebody to pick me up and I'll have a car within the hour. No charge. No agreement.

If I'd not of read the comment wonky, I wouldn't of researched!
