8 repairs under warranty in 14 months

Featured Replies

I bought my octavia vrs in October last year, pre-registered, 3 months old with 49 miles on the clock.

It has had 8 repairs in the time I have had it, and further visits for the car to be looked at and serviced. They have spent £2500-£3000 I believe. Still have one outstanding repair that has not been able to be fixed and another problem yet to discuss with the dealer. None of these issues have caused the car to break down or are engine related. Has anyone else had so many trips to the dealer or had to go to the dealer this many times in just over a year? I am now pretty hacked off with all this trouble. Like the car, hate the problems! Feel the car is not fit for purpose!

Collected brand new Vrs 2015.Had it for 20min when the gearbox issue started. In to dealer, they had it for a week(fri-fri)

Picked it up once again, had it for a couple of hours same issue again.4days later new car :-)

No problems untill today.I also hate the problems but love the car

Mixed build quality for sure. I have a 2014 Octavia Elegance estate which has been faultless (bar a faulty boot bulb) in the two years Ive had it.

Ironically I have just recently taken delivery of a 2016 model year Golf GTD hatch as a company car and thats about to go back into the dealers for warranty issues for the 2nd time in the 3 months Ive had it.....nothing major but annoying all the same.

One of the guys in the Yeti forum, Abominable, had no end of issues with his 1.2 TSI Yeti - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/152102-engine-problems-yeti-12-tsi/page-3#entry4135069 That's about the worst I've read of on here. Just three claims on mine so far - heated seat base x2 and zinc inclusions on the driver's door needing a respray. I've seen signs of similar happening on the rear doors now, so that will be back to the dealer's once the 'defeat device' rectification is finalised. None of that was in the first year though, so I count myself lucky.

Fish and chips next Saturday will make things better Pete,

See you there

I feel like I want Skoda to take the car back and pay off my finance so I could go get another car! Don't think they will do that though!

What are the problems with your car?

What's a 'zinc inclusion'?

It has had 3 seat bases, two covers on driver and passenger seat rattles interior trim coming off, button fell off hand brake, water in boot lid, that still not fixed, now radio not working right and making phone calls itself! Nothing major, but annoying all the same!

I have a 1.6tdi Leon at the moment because my vrs has an oil pressure issue (most likely a sensor )

1200 miles old

What's a 'zinc inclusion'?

It's a galvanising/paint defect where the zinc reacts under the paintwork, causing it to blister. Once it breaks through the paintwork it's potentially a spot where rust could develop. The problem is once it has ruptured the paint it looks like a stone chip, which is where some members here have had trouble getting it fixed under warranty.

There have been quite a few threads on it over the years

My ex Octavia 3 my14 had 8 repairs on the deeler.

xenon flashing, missing foot lights, 2 times because front doors rattling bad, both front doors painted four times because zinc inclusion.

Dealer had horrible paint quality, so I took car back four times damn..

Now I have new VRS my16 and no problems so far. Little rattling on dashboard when temperature is low.

My VRS TDI is a well documented pile of poo. Unfortunately I am stuck with it for the next two years.

I think in my case I have a Friday afternoon one that has been poorly screwed together.

We have plenty of others on the fleet which are spot on.

Mines done that a couple of times usually when its cold outside. I informed the dealer who phoned Skoda about the problem with the Radio. Skoda UK wanted a video of it happening otherwise they wouldn't do anything about it. The reason given was to stop people just wanting a new radio for free............

They only need to replace the screen .......

The water pump bracket was also snapped and replaced on another occasion but I've lost the paperwork.

If you add up all the days I have been without my car in them 18 months it adds up to just over 1 month!

I've had mine about 1 month and it had to go in for an oil leak from the turbo manifold inlet or something like that. Took about 10 days. Fingers crossed it is all fixed now

Two front doors removed and repaired for paint defect

Front bumper removed and repaired for paint defect

Rear bumper removed and repaired for paint defect

Rear tailgate removed and repaired for paint defect

Bonnet removed and repaired for paint defect

2 x dash centre airvent modules replaced

Electric boot struts replaced due to oil leak

Thats my list to date and that was all within the first 6 months from new. I dare not Park the car under a streetlight at night following all of the remedial resprays.

.........

Out of interest, what was the reason for the airvent modules being replaced?

One replacement due to silver trim edging not straight - picked up on delivery inspection by myself.

The other was that the air vent 'fins' were not directing air as they were not attached to the adjuster.

Daft faults tbh
