Slight niggle...

Featured Replies

My Octy SE-L has headlight washers fitted, Every time i give the windscreen a little clean the headlight washers go off, This is bad enough but they have the audacity to go off twice!! On my old car they went off once and only every 5th activation of the screen wash, Can this be changed?? Or am i yanking a fuse out...

They should only trigger every 10 washes of the screen, unless you turn the ignition off.

They do go off twice though, a pre wash and a wash.

The behaviour can be changed with VCDS.

Yeah it can be changed by VCDS. I had it changed on mine so it only went off if I held the washers on for more than 5 seconds I think.

Mine do not go off every 10 washes, they go off every single time i use my screen wash, its draining it fast!

During the day if you need to clean your screen turn the headlights off, clean screen then turn them back on... no headlight wash!

Something wrong there then.

Also , if driving at night, I turn the light to sidelight when stationary at traffic lights.

Did not know it could be coded to 5 second long pull to activate headlamp wash. Might get the dealer to do that when in for next service.

Martin, I have the same thing mine go off every time and the method mentioned above doesn't work on mine either. and yes its annoying particularly in the summer when you've just washed it and it sprays a load of soap everywhere.

I was planning to ask the dealer to have a look at it, but since they still haven't managed to get my sat nav working after nearly a year I haven't had the energy to mention it.

I doubt if the dealer will do it, and I think the longest delay accepted is just over 2 seconds

Can't see a wash everytime is correct. Mine must be every 10, never counted but it seems to be what's quoted here. If dealer is close by, call in to see them.

I think it restarts the count everytime you start the car.

I have set the delay so high on mine using VCDS that it basically never washes the headlights. Hopefully the monthly car wash is sufficient

Must've been 2 seconds I had it changed to then by one of the friendly VCDS guys on here. Either way, it made a massive reduction on the amount of screen wash I used. Just need to get my new car coded again the same as my old one was.
