WINTER motoring

Featured Replies

It always has in the past, i think its over 10 winters that i have used it, always bought 3 for the price of 2,

it stops the frost ice getting a grip on the glass.  Works as well on the door rubbers.

Not used any this year as i am out of it.

Cheers, George. I might try some.

Wife texts back 10 minutes later: "Computer really messed up now."

Saw my first gritter of the season tonight on me way to tesco.. while wearing a tshirt and 3/4length cargo trousers after the gym. Made me feel a tad under-dressed for the weather :D

Had a real winterdrive yesterday. The Climate Control really works wonders in keeping the car warm. Much better than in my old Mondeo were I had to raise the temperature to keep warm.

Im gonna call it officially cold..

Had to thaw my car at home at 915pm leaving for work.

Had to thaw the van at depot 940pm

Had to thaw van again to leave site at 330am.

Had to thaw my car at depot to get home at 435am...

Even had to put my wooly hat on under helmet at work, first time since April snow..

I was very happy this morning to have a heated windscreen and heated seats.

No heated seats right now.

But a sheep gave up its life to keep me cozy when it is frosty.

(No jokes please from Aberdeen or anyplace about sheep.)

Met Office Weather Warning of snow, ice and freezing rain for this weekend.

This sleet just got real!

Just from previous experiences i am not risking Saturday night heading from Glasgow Airport to Perth then North so booked a room and have my weetabix & fry up in the morning.

Snow shovel in the car and plenty munchies. Probably not needed but there anyway.

You may have spoken too soon George. The area around Glasgow Airport (reffered to as Arkleston in traffic reports) is notorious for RTC's & BDV's at the best of times.

After my near 15 hour commute (its usually 60 - 90 minutes) on the M8 & M74 on 6 Dec 2010, I now keep a cheap folding camping stove and boil in the bag ready meals in my Winter Crash Bag.

Weetabix would just make such a mess.

2nd Morning in a row of De-Icer needed, but yesterday was on the West Coast of Scotland which was a surprise, this morning on the East Coast and minus 2 and less so.

Winter fuel will be getting delivered by now to the filling stations.

Saves a lot of time when no need to de-ice if you can get the greenhouse heater plugged in while parked.
