TSI vrs owners... Tell me about your cars !

Featured Replies

Can someone confirm for me the my16 comes with amundsen sat nav as standard?

Was there or thereabouts a MY16.5 (week 45) change I believe....for a short period in MY16 Skoda added it as a free option, retracted it for a while but it is actually now standard spec.

Gather it was a little hit or miss if an MY16 car came with it....all depended on the cars build week.

In short if you ordered a vRS now it would come with Amundsen as part of standard UK spec.

Cool thanks for that.

Do they come with anything else as standard that used to be an option ??

I've just been amazed by my car, I've just had to refuel after 430.2 miles, which for a vRS DSG I don't think is bad and I could have probably got 450 out of it, it's just I didn't want to take the chance of running out of petrol at stupid o'clock in the morning.

That's impressive. Was that mainly motorway? I can get about 350 max out of a tank.

Not really, the early cars did without a Soundaktor and Cruise......regular cruise got introduced as standard around MY14.5/15 (cant remember which). The soundaktor wasnt fitted to the very early launch vehicles but was included in factory builds thereafter.

Amundsen got added to the vRS as a "free" optional extra towards the end of MY15.5 but got dropped for MY16....became standard fitment around MY16.5 (week 45).

A flat bottom wheel was introduced down the line and the drive mode selection button changed from the regular button to a VRS mode button but no change in functionality.

So there are some MY16 cars with Amundsen, some without and cwrs built now will definitely have it as it is now standard kit.

All vRS's are based on SE spec but have always come with Lane Assist, Bi-Xenons, Light/rain sensor with auto dip rear view mirror, multifunction wheel as standard over and above SE spec.

I don't think I have lane assist on mine you are saying it should ? I will need to try changing lanes without indicating !

It can be turned on and off in the infotainment menu.

You might need to activate it but I would be surprised if your car isn't equipped with it.

AUS owner here..

MY15.5 TSI manual with 4000kms..

JB1 piggy back makes it go like it should from factory to be honest. Found it a little down on power before i added that.

Oh and I added a CAI as I love induction noise..

Otherwise can't fault the car yet. Roomy, quick and I dig the looks of the wagon.

Had my car coming up 2 months now, but what has to be considered is this is coming from a sub 5 second 0-60 impreza hatch.

Good Bits:

Really smooth gear changes

Fairly comfortable ride + low road noise (for a 'sporty' car)

Vairable boot floor - can leave important stuff in the car hidden away and have the dogs in the boot without problems

the colour :)

Bad Bits:

12v socket permanently live - dashcam plug is going to get ruined over time having to take it out

DSG + traction control - does not like mashing the throttle

Low 30's mpg average over 1000 miles. Lucky if i get above 25 with town driving.

Niggly things:

Fog lights being a different colour to the other lights

Having driven it for longer and adjusted my driving style i'm starting to think i would have been better off with the TDI if it wasn't for my short commute (which soon to be taken up by an AYGO). I know how to drive smoothly but it just isn't getting close to what i was hoping MPG wise. I could get the impreza up to 26-27mpg and this on the same drive is getting ~32 without any real sense of fun. I think the next car will be a TDI superb.

2 months in and already deciding on next car! Yikes!

That's not bad around town. On a normal work run I'd get excited if i got as high as 25. Normally 21-23 max

Why is there such a broad sweep between mpg figures ?

Why is there such a broad sweep between mpg figures ?

Traffic, roads and driving styles I'd think.

I seem to be getting 29mpg as an average, give or take, but my home to work is four miles of mostly stop-start traffic, which kills it.  I posted a thread up of my first three tankfuls and some people suggested I might have a problem.  So I took mine out for a 120 mile drive, Eastbourne to just past Havant along the A27, in traffic but mostly free moving, and got 40mpg+ without trying:

You are burning much more fuel than we do in any of our three 2.0 TSi's, (35 to 37 mpg long-term), when do you shift up / down (rpm's), assuming your car is a manual?

I've just noticed that you have a DSG, are you driving it in "D" or shifting your-self ?

Yep, apart from about 6 miles to/from the A3, it was all motorway driving to/from UK-Belgium (A25, A3, M25, M26, M20, A16, E40) & v.v, plus some dual carriageway stuff once home. Plus light footing things. And it was on Sainsbury's bog standard unleaded.

I generally leave it in D. When i leave it in the more semi-auto mode i forget to change up occasionally and to be honest when i tried i couldn't really eek out any more distance from the same fuel. S is a bit of a waste of time really as it doesn't really seem to move any quicker just becomes more jerky on the throttle combined with the generally wet weather up here leads to wheelspin. E is a waste of time as i can match the mpg driving smoothly in D.

In addition to this i have the car set to individual mode which is sport everything except the fake engine noise. I only turn on the heater/AC when the car needs it. I was hoping for better but i can live with what it is currently doing as unlike the impreza i'm not restriced to running momentum/v-power.
