Merry Xmas, everyone. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and haven't over indulged!

I thought I'd start a topic on Obsession Wax as I've just bought one of their waxes and also experienced their excellent customer service.

I bought Phantom Wax just before Christmas after reading some very favourable reviews and thought I'd give it a go.

So, what do Obsession Wax say about Phantom:

Phantom has been designed from the ground up, after months of research and testing. This wax will leave a great depth to your paintwork and long lasting protection of 5 months+

Phantom is designed to be the pinacle of automotive protection, Ultimate gloss, Untlimate protection.

The only wax on the market to come with no instructions, Use it how you want. Containing 68% of T1 carnauba as well as natural oils and waxes!

Apply in thin layers, Apply in thick layers.

Leave for 5 mins, leave for 5 hours.

The choice is yours, so easy to use, you will never use another wax again.

So, I bought a pot that Jay had made for someone but they must have changed their mind. A custom blend of Phantom; Bright Pink colour with Strawberry and Cream scent. Unfortunately, it had been heated during transit and the top layer had gone 'funny'. So Jay drove to my Mum and Dads house to deliver a fresh pot to me, across Manchester.

So I applied it to the whole car, it wasn't the smoothest wax I have ever applied. Not unbareable, but it isn't as slick to apply as my Angelwax Desireable. But the beauty of this wax is you can apply it however you like. Here is the car with a layer applied prior to removal.

So onto removal. It was a little chilly but quite dry, so not quite perfect conditions but not horrendous. It came off a little on the grabby side, but once off you were left with a nice slick finish. And the results? Well, not bad for a 7 year old car washed by my Dad with a brush!

And not bad on trim. Before.

20151229_132226_zps2noqave3.jpg

After.

20151229_132301_zpshdjut8tm.jpg

And a nice reflection shot to finish!

So to conclude, am I happy I bought it? Time will tell really, when I apply it to my black car in summer then I will know, as this is the reason I bought it. But it has left a lovely finish on my Dads car, so hopefully it will on mine.

Please feel free to add to the thread if you have any experiences with their products guys.

Neil

Fantastic finish Neil and very detailed review. One I'll be looking into myself.

Hope you had a nice Xmas matey!

Hey Neil - Merry Christmas buddy.

Nice write-up and great customer service from Jay as well.

Certainly a product that promises a lot - not question though, the finish on your Dad's car is absolutely beautiful.

I'm sure he is well chuffed with the results - that's for sure. I guess you will monitor it and see how the long term upkeep and durability transpire.....

Great to see you busy detailing and posting up more great and informative threads on here.

Cheers,
Ste.

PS: i've been detailing today testing out some Xmas pressies too..... i'll get a write-up done shortly.

Thanks guys. It certainly looks well. He keeps it garaged so I'm expecting it to last. I'll keep you boys updated with durability etc but it will be topped with BSD so won't be a realistic test as such of the wax itself.

No worries - sounds like you have got him using a good routine/regime.

If he is topping regularly with Sonax BSD; then he won't go far wrong

He does what he can, bless him. He's got really bad arthritis. Hence why he uses the telescopic brush. But he keeps it really clean and now he has the Foam Lance and the KKD Blizzard, hopefully it will make things a little easier.

I ordered my pot of phantom on Xmas eve taking advantage of the discount code, It still yet to arrive but I understand it's going to take longer then usual being Xmas break etc, either way I can not wait to try it heard good things from phantom wax, well all of obsessions waxes.

You will be happy Sean, I'm sure. The finish is lovely, it adds a lot of gloss.

I didn't dampen the applicator pad this time to see what it was like applying with a dry foam applicator, I will dampen it next time as I'm sure this will improve application. But it was okay, even with a dry foam applicator.

Looks great!! Far better than my dad's car. He believes that the rain cleans the car!

Looking forward to the long term review!! :)

I once cleaned and waxed his car, I asked him what he thought and his reply was "doesn't look any different"

With a big grin on his face......annoying old bugger that he is!

Plan to do his again as the paint is looking a bit bad in places......though maybe in the new year.

Haha. You've got to love 'Dad Humour'. Mine loves a clean and shiny car but really struggles. He did give it a going over a couple of months ago with SRP and Angelwax Bodywax by splitting it up into sections but it's getting too much for him. And it took him about 7 days to get it all done. He's pleased as punch now with it.

So I got around to giving the cars a clean this morning and while I was at it I thought I'd give my pot of Phantom another go (well, actually I was itching to).

So, following Matt1234's advice from Detailing World, I dampened my Auto Perfection Wax Applicator and set about applying the wax on a better prepared car than my Dad's in the above thread.

So the Focus CC was Snow Foamed, washed and dried ready for waxing. The wax spread like an absolute dream which enabled me to get such a thin layer down that I barely touched the top of the pot really!

Here is the car with the wax fully applied.

And you can just about see the wax on the last picture, showing a nice thin layer. It honestly took me about 5 minutes to apply to the whole car once I got going. It was as easy as applying a liquid wax. So I popped all my washing kit away and got my daughter something to eat which took about 20-25 minutes and I went to remove it.

By this time it had drizzled slightly, but there were no issues, I dried the panel off with one side of the cloth and buffed with the other. It was a breeze to remove, even with the damp surface. Here are the after piccies.

Thanks for reading!!

Lovely job Neil & I'm glad it worked out better for you this time!

Makes the colour on the Focus look amazing!

Thanks Karl, I'm a little relieved to say the least! Haha. It came up really well. Really happy with the finish that the wax gives. Water behaviour to follow.

Thanks Ste.

I am mate. Especially after the first pot that I received. All is well that ends well though and the gamble seems to have paid off. Looking forward to using it on bare paint to see how it performs then, rather than over existing LSP's.
