Interest in a 30-130 event?

Featured Replies

I'm looking into the possibility of organising a 30-130 event, which is usually held at a space long enough for you to explore the upper limits of your car's performance in a straight line. Timing gear is usually attached to measure the time taken to sprint between 30 and 130 mph and then you can (subject to space and nerve) usually try to go as fast as you can.

Ideally to be held in the Midlands, close to the M1, if you are interested then start making a list. I'd like to try and keep the cost to £99 for a couple of timed runs and so I need to work out the cost of hiring the venue, booking the timing gear, any safety considerations, etc. (you would most likely need your own lid).

Cheers

Bruntingthorpe?  I am interested. :)  I need a rolling start. :D  PS: I hope to get more than 2 runs for the price of a whole trackday? ;)

Most of the cost looks to be venue hire and the cost of hiring the timing gear and operator. It'll be easier to say for definite once we have some numbers.

Like Jason said hope for a few more runs than two. An airfield maybe possible to hire for the day and cheaper.

I'd be interested

I wondered if any of the airfields around the M4/Bristol do this, but not sure how long a straights they have.

I admit I have not seen anywhere host these events before.  On some trackdays at Bruntingthorpe I know they allow some people to do the full 2 mile straight during the lunch break and find their VMax.

If you do a car control day with Don Palmer the he lets just blast down the straight as you go for lunch :)

MLR run or used to run their 30-130 days at RAF Marham in Norfolk. Javelin run Thunder Road with VXR Power Events, a standing mile event at RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk, but you need some sort of Vauxhall to take part. There used to be an "open to all" standing mile even as well called Fighting Torque, but the last one was a number of years ago now. Brunters is ideally located for most people, being in the Midlands and all that.

Posting to get updates, would be interested potentially

If you can't reach 130 as a penalty for being so pony you must keep going and drive off the end of the runway until you come to a stop! :D

It only does 123 though :(

That's rubbish if that's what Skoda says rather than what you've tested it as. Mine says top speed of 120 but it's been there and still would give more.

Time for a remap then :D

I'm interested.

Not sure what happened to my post. I typed simply "I'm interested"
