vRS 4x4 v FL vRS II

Featured Replies

We currently drive a 2010 FL vRS estate TDi. Lots of things we love about the car, but a couple of dislikes.

1. Grip, especially in the snow. I've never driven a car with less front end grip! And yes, I know a set on winter tyres would cure it, but I already have a set for my BMW taking up garage space...

2. Road noise - the car is pretty refined but the road/tyre roar gets really tiresome (!) on a long journey.

Hopefully a 4x4 vRS would have better grip in the snow, at least under acceleration has anyone tried one?

Is it any less noisy than the Mk2 FL?

Would love to hear from anyone that has driven one!!

4x4 does help in the snow even with summer rubber...... Unless you are trying to stop then it's just like any other sledge...

You will however find it much easier to get going. Will be able to drive across snowbound car parks at leisure when others are stuck in 10 feet.

Do they exist?

I had to have a little chuckle at that part.

A two wheel drive Vrs on winters will beat a 4X4 on summer tyres in snow hands down any day

What about a 4 x 4 with winter tyres :nerd: ...... bet they are rare though and a tad expensive

Agreed. 2wd with wintertyres will in most cases be better than a 4x4 on summers.
