Power steering leak

Featured Replies

I recently took ownership of an Octavia Mk1, Full mot on it, with a few advisories. The one that concerns me is the power steering, (Steering rack has a slight leak of oil at n/s). I am clueless with cars tbh, and as my anxiety is in full swing, I though i'd ask if this is a common thing, or should I be worried?

I intend to go back in tomorrow to the lad that sold me the car and ask about it.

Cheers ;)

They quite often leak from the PAS pipe on the n/s of the rack. Usually from the swaged joint on the pipe where is goes from a rubber hose to the metal pipe. Needs looking at, I'd change it as it will only get worse.

Thanks for reply.

Change the pipe, or the full rack?

If the pipe is leaking, just the pipe
