Here is a recent Decoke on a 2.0TFSI Golf R.

The TFSI is known to suffer from excessive carbon build up,and starving the engine of the require air volume.

This picture shows an engine that has covered 41,000 miles.

We have seen inlets more severe than this, and saps engine power.

nothing like it.  Good old fashioned hard graft.  Remove inlet manifold & get stuck in with wire brushes, picks & solvents.  It's the only really effective fix besides walnut shell blasting.

Whats the cost on a service like this then

I'd hazard a guess about £300-400 inc parts (gaskets etc) and labour.

Any chance of a price please? Do you replace valves or just clean then?

Just clean them.  To replace valves would require the head off and many gaskets / shims / seals, etc. Price would be GBP1500-2000.  It costs about AUD 1000-1300 to do the basic cleaning  job down here but we get paid a lot more than you Brits for tradie work.

If you do a google search of VW inlet valve cleaning there are a many examples of the process on youtube.
