Instead of paying for some of these lowlife spongers in prison doing nothing, get them out there under guard,paying them real low to offset the materials used,this would need some tweeking but do-able.......Pot Holes sorted...job done......" Oh No you can't do that they have rights ",...... yea so do the poor old people that they mugged for their addiction......one can of worms opened :evil:

Or use just as much security to stop them (Volunteers) from running away,

Get the The Unemployed out there, those receiving benefits and allowances and wanting work, signing on for work.

Call into the Job Centre Plus, arrange some H&S, some outfitting of Safety & Wet weather gear, transport, a Lunch Box, 

Child Minding etc, some extra Cash Money, and off they go the following week, 'Road Workers'  Child Minders, Caterers etc etc.

 

Train them.  Get the UK Working and moving.

Remember back to YTS projects, they dug a hole and buried perfectly good materials and covered them over.

The problem is, that every Tom, **** or Harry can dig up our roads to lay cables, pipes, or even just for fun.

Once they are finished, they do a shoddy job of putting the road back to normal. So water get's in the cracks and freezes, and then pop, we have a pot hole. Sometimes they just break apart due to sheer volume of traffic. It makes me mad, as the roads I use to commute on our quite quickly going down hill as it seems that every week there is another set of temp lights being setup so another section can be dug up and then filled in and shoddily tarmacked over.

There should be tighter rules and councils should be checking the sections before the utility companies / contractors can sign off the job. As when Joe public run into problems with pot holes, it's the council who pay out.

When I first started driving many years ago the Road Tax as it was then called was charged for the upkeep of the roads ......... :|

 

So what has changed ? Where does the cash go now ? Who made the decision to change this ? I don't remember voting on this :no:

And I stand corrected as one of the many who believed that "Road Tax or VED" was used for the upkeep of the roads.
