So is ag newer than p and q etc..what a strange way they have of adding revision numbers.

Looks to be, it's normally running SW:0709 which is newer the SW:06xx found on p/q versions. I think they typically do a-z, aa-az then even ba-bz! CAN gateways are upto BL now ;)

Have you tried changing byte 17, bit 7 in the BCM? Are you using ODIS-s or ODIS-e?
