Space Saver and Tool Kit

Featured Replies

Hi. Ordered an SE L a couple of weeks ago with the optional 17 inch wheels and also a Space Saver wheel. My question is, does the Space Saver come with a Tool Kit. I have searched the forum and it seems the 16 inch full size spare does come with a kit but couldn't find any info on the Space Saver for the 17 inch. Thanks in advance.

I would have thought any Skoda optional spare wheel must come with a tool kit - if not what use is it?

It should have a tool kit with everything you need to change a wheel.

Thanks for your answer. That's what I would have thought/hoped but in the Accessories Brochure they are two separate items. Any other car I have had that had a Space Saver also had a Tool Kit. I am a bit confused as to whether the Factory Order maybe different from the Accessories Order.

If you have ordered it with a build order then it's a complete tool and spare wheel

I ordered the spare wheel when I ordered my 15 plate VRS TSI (18's), came complete with jack, locking wheel nut key etc. And the polystyrene thingy that sits in the middle of the spare.

Thanks everybody, that is good to hear. I did think odd to supply a spare wheel with no method of fitting it. Can get back to looking forward to getting it!!

I only bought my 2014 Superb II at 14 months old so I don't know what it came with new but when I picked it up it came with a spare wheel with Jack, wheel brace, locking wheel nut adapter  ,tools, polystyrene thingy but couldn't find a wheel nut cap removal tool - since bought on ebay

What size is the wheel and tyre you were supplied with as the spare? Will it fit over the front calipers?

Cheers.

The spare wheel is like a motor bike tyre on a thin steel wheel. It will clear the front calliper

My scout has 17" alloys and was ordered with a spare wheel. The spare wheel is a full size 16" steel with a 205/55/16 MichelinX tyre, which has a smaller rolling radius(657mm vs 632, a difference of 3.81%). I was expecting a 205/60/16 which is almost identical (a difference of 5mm or 0.76%), but there you go. Not sure whether this might mess with traction control or not...

It may do but my understanding is that Skoda rate all spares as "Temporary" spares, so 50mph max.  I think I've you've got 17" wheels you might be able to get hold of an additional alloy and it should fit ok in the well, I tried with the 18" wheels on the vRS and they're just a little too wide for the floor to sit properly.

The vRS has to have a larger diameter spare due to the front brakes.  Sizing on the vRS spare is 125/70R18 and it's very very odd driving on it, I certainty wouldn't recommend driving very far or very fast on it.

Cheers chaps.

My vRS has 18" Pictoris wheels. The spare is a 16" full size, as was fitted all round and also the spare on my previous 1.4SE. The vRS is ex-Skoda, reg'd December 14, but the tyre and kit all bear manufacture dates for late 15. Clearly the spare and kit were added to the car when it was moved from fleet to sale. The spare fits the rear, but I think it'd struggle on the front!

I found all this while fitting mudflaps yesterday. A trip to the dealer beckons.

TBH, these days I find changing wheels a real pain. And these 18" jobs are blinking heavy. I think I'll ask them for a foam repair kit.

My understanding is you need a minimum of 17" for a vRS. I'd be expecting the correct tyre - goo won't help much at 2am in the ar*e end of nowhere with a blowout and no mobile signal.

Yep, gullyg - let's see what Monday brings.

(Nice sponsor you've got there.)

My Scout comes with 17" wheels and no spare. I bout the Jack & toolkit and fitted a 16" winter wheel in as a spare.

Now I have the winter wheels on I have put one of the 17" wheels in as the spare, it is a tight fit and sticks above the spare wheel well by an inch or so.
