I haven't had any response yet as i thought i would deal with it as democratically as possible as mistakes do happen however i am still pretty peeved, it kind of distracts from the buzz of a new car. I would Like the alignment checked for piece of mind more than anything else.

I am going to give them a week then escalate it, giving them a reasonable time to respond.

Later on that week I spotted another Blueline parked in a Supermarket  Carpark supplied by the same dealer, had a quick look and yep that had the blocks in to.  Left a note on the Windscreen and went on my way.

I assume from your post that these blocks are easy to see just by looking into the wheel arch rather than having to feel around under the arch - is that the case ? What colour are they ?

There pink. And can also be blue. Mine were pink

Depends what car you have whether you need to Jack it up (reason is it depends on how much wheel arch clearance you have). If you can get your hands in and prod the gaiter it will be solid most of the way up. In order to remove them you need to Jack the car up to give you enough room to lift the gaiter to expose the blocks.

Not got the car yet - just thinking ahead.

Dealer is further South from Harlow but still in Essex

Interesting, we live in South Essex, & there aren't any "proper" Skoda Dealers around here............

Essex Auto Group, Rayleigh.

Are they not a 'proper' dealer ?

They seem to lack something, enthusiasm perhaps, product knowledge when they opened & maybe a lack of customers.

As for wanting to put a competitive deal together, not really interested.

It's a shame. 'cos they are our nearest dealer.

Well that's not my experience of them.

Another example of dealer ineptitude. How hard can it be to do the PDI PROPERLY. Do dealers really not value their customers and their safety?

Sorry to bump up an old thread but my FL VRS had blocks left in on the offside front. This led to a jarring ride principally over potholes and it took me 100 miles to work out something was wrong and ask on here. The telltale sign of them only being on one side was that it went over speed bumps in a very strange way!

Dealer's service manager couldnt quite believe it especially as they are bright blue. There was even a label saying 'PDI OK' on the key! I'm not going to name the dealer as they have been very reasonable in response but I would urge anyone who thinks the suspension on their car is harsher than expected, to jack it up and have a look. This is what you will see if they have been left in.

Good it is resolved and SWMBO should be a lot happier with the ride now.

I'd imagine only a small percentage of new car buyers would frequent a forum to ask these questions, so you would have to wonder how many are driving around with them in place for far longer than they should. It does occur here in Australia too.

Do other manufacturers use similar transportation blocks because it was not something I had heard of before I joined VW/Skoda forums?

On my 2013 model which I bought in 2015,  I thought the ride was harsh but put that down to the big wheels and low profile tyres. After reading about transport blocks on this forum I jacked mine up and was staggered to find 2 blocks on each side so the suspension travel was reduced by about 3". When I removed them the ride was transformed. The dealer was very embarrassed when I showed them, as they had done the original PDI (my car was ex-demo) and had sold the same car twice, firstly to the original buyer and then to me. In all those checks they did not notice the blocks.

I would be asking for new shock absorbers and top mounts if it had spent more than 2 years driving round with the transport blocks in .......

I did ask for new shocks or at the very least extended warranty bearing in mind its only 6 months. Unfortunatly the garage concerned started to play hard to get,  not returning  my calls or answering emails, made it difficult knowing i live 300 miles away. Touch wood no problems yet, however it says somthing about a garage who cant even be arsed to to a 30 minute check. Mine also had delivary pressures 45psi as well as transport blocks in one side.

I'd be escalating that. Not acceptable. If you had done something not approved in the user's manual (wrong oil, water, whatever), you just know they'd use it against you if they knew. And here we are with a dealer doing same and they expect to get away with it?
