Octavia VRS lowering guide / how much for fitting.

Featured Replies

Is there a guide for fitting lowering springs on the Octavia VRS III.

Has anyone done it ? Was it easy? Special tools required ?

Or how much have you paid to have springs fitted and where?

I have lowered some of my previous cars so know what to do.

Thanks

Yea I've done mine. H&R springs and it's pretty easy. About an hour per side front and back. Backs are about 15 mins.

The you tube guide shows them removing the Hub completely. No need. 2ft long piece of 4x2 cable tied to the strut and jack the strut up out of the hub. You will need a vw strut tool spreader tho to open the hub up where the strut goes in. Can be had on eBay for a 10ner but can use a 1/4 inch ratchet if needs be.

will the car need a re-allignment after???

Thanks for the help guys.

Seems straight forward.

I had mine done at a local independent, cost me 3hrs labour totalling £144+vat for all four springs and dampers and that included checking the 4 wheel alignment.

I assume there is no need for new shocks at the same time? The drop on the Eibach pro kit is relatively small so shouldn't wear out the shocks quicker?

I only changed the shocks at the same time as I wanted to ditch the OEM set up completely, I think the early MY13 shocks were not quite right for UK roads and was convinced revisions to parts have been made since mine was built but SUK refused to confirm.

@mat pez - how do the B4's compare with the OEM setup?

They are better than the OEM shocks fitted to my car but mine was April 13 build, ie. Very early model in O3 production run and I'm convinced there has been development of shocks, not that I could get SUK to admit. Eibach and B4s have been on for over 30k miles now and the ride is still better than OEM set up which was very harsh over expansion joints and pot holes. The rear has developed a hollow rattling at low speed, but I think it may be the rear suspension bushes starting to wear, not the shocks failing, I have done over 70k miles now, would never go for a torsion beam rear set up again, we just bought SWMBO a MY13 Leon which has independent rear suspension, the difference is like night and day, Leon rides like a Rolls Royce by comparison to the Octy!
