Group 2/3 car seat compatibility (Hatchback)

Featured Replies

hello, I'm looking for a group 2/3 car seat with IsoFix which is compatible with a Skoda Fabia hatchback.

I'm looking specifically at the MaxiCosi RodiFix at the moment.

I've heard that the Fabia's IsoFix adaptors sit quite low making car seats difficult to fit.

I'm interested to hear others experience of the RodiFix t in their Fabia.

Thank you

I've had a maxicosi and it fitted perfect

which maxi cosi was it?

I've used Group 0 / 1 car seats in their range, but not with IsoFix.

Not sure what series it was. It was a while ago sorry.

Currently looking at group 0 seats ourselves so I was on the maxicosi website and had a look, it says the rodifix is only seatbelt compatible in the Fabia hatchback. Best bet is to go into a mothercare and ask them to do a 'fit test' they wills take one out to your car if they have one, failing that they can take an isofix base out.

thank you. I might have to do that - I was hoping to avoid going in store as I'm miles away from the nearest mothercare or halfords :)

Bugger. Isofix are pretty similar in fitment, do you have any friends or neighbours that might have a base you could try in your car just to give you an idea?

If you were thinking of buying online then you are covered by the distance selling act and could send it back if it does not fit. Depends what's more hassle, going to a store or returning via a post office. Good luck anyway!

thanks, I'll try that

Be carefull the the seat belts clips stand between the ISOFIX fitments ... It's hard (impossible ?) to plug an isofix seat and use the regular seat belt to secure the kid ...

Why would you use both isofix and a seatbelt? The isofix is the most secure way to fit a seat. To my knowledge it's 'either or' not both. The isofix is anchored to the chassis.

Many (most) group2/3 seats use the regular seat belt to secure the kids... For example the Recaro Monza Nova isofix, the seat is secured by isofix, but you have to use the seat belt to secure the kid...

Apologies, I've not looked at many of the seats for toddlers, still looking at group 0 and then the next ones up I have seen have been 5 point harness or that very strange looking cushion thing across the waist of the child, like on some of the cybex and britax seats.

Apparently the cushion is the very best for the kids (up to 15kg), but it is set in place by the seat belt ;)

My kid is 14kg, so I'm right in the range where I think to change ...
