About to order - any issues with yours yet?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After having my Octavia VRS for just over 4 years, I'm getting ready to order a replacement (Superb due to an expanding family).

Has anyone had any serious issues with their mk 3 Superb?

I've already seen a few people mentioning suspension rattles, dash trim movement etc.

Any more?

Thanks in advance...

Nothing that would stop me buying if I had known in advance.... I have a 5 year warranty so let as much go wrong with it as possible in the next 5 years and hopefully i'll have another 5 years trouble free ;-)

Mines perfect,

but do double check your order has all the options you want listed correctley, especially the smart light assist option, if you want, it as this has been wrong on a few cars.

I really don't see a point to SLA, the standard Bi-Xenons have AFS and I've never struggled to move the lever so's not to blind anyone. Don't need lane assist or blind spot detection either, especially at £950...

My spec would be:

SE L Executive Estate

Manual (DSG doesn't agree with me)

18" Modus alloy wheels
Temporary steel spare wheel
Front and rear parking sensors
Variable boot floor
Colour Maxi DOT trip computer
Black Alcantara/leather upholstery
Retractable parcel shelf (confused about this as the brochure says it's standard but the configurator charges £120???)
Crew protection assistant & rear side airbags

Tempted with the towbar (may get a bike carrier), but £765 seems rather steep!

Decisions, decisions...

Almost exactly my spec ... The retractable parcel shelf is standard .... It retracts half way which is fine with me.... The £120 get you a parcel shelf that retracts all the way ....

No love for rear view camera? Feels like a must-have for pretty cheap.

Especially if you're going to put bikes on a tow bar mounted bike carrier to help you reverse without pranging the bikes into a wall!

Don't usually reverse up to a wall with bikes on, might go for a roof carrier instead anyway - as I'm not towing anything, I don't need the extra cooling/alternator prep/thingymabob.

It'd be easy to get carried away with options but I've tried to concentrate on essentials/wants rather than nice to haves - if I'm buying a new car, I'm one of those that'd rather spec it for me rather than the next bloke...

Nice to see no one has had any major niggles with the MK III.

In what way? You can hardly blame them for it being so popular...

Rattling dashboard. Aaagh.

misquoted build weeks, that get pushed back, no proactive communications from dealer or Skoda, and up to 6 months lead times, I think this makes for poor performance

Have got a buzzing noise on acceleration deep inside the dash. Not looking forward to my upcoming visit to the dealer to attempt a fix!

Regarding reversing camera, I have one but rarely use it - l rely on side mirrors. I guess it's habit.

My car also had the issue regarding smart light assist not provided despite being ordered by the dealer. Can't complain though because it's an ex demo and I was fully aware before purchasing.

I'd add my voice to the comments about delivery lead times.

If I could go back and start again, just before placing the order, I would ask the Skoda representative to put down in writing when it will be available at the dealership to pick up. I suspect that they will stutter a bit, and then I would ask them to write down their worst case scenario.

Because then, if my experience is anything to go by, you'll have a piece of paper with a date on it that is exactly halfway between now and when you'll get your car.

Terry have you tried to track it down to fix yourself ? I also had a buzzing in the dash on acceleration but it seems to have cured itself ... Maybe worth living with it for a few weeks to see what happens ?

Nick, I'll live with the buzzing for now. It's only during a small rev range when accelerating, so not a good idea to take my eyes off the road!

Sounds like same problem I have.

WRT the standard parcel shelf - can it be retracted manually if needed? I really don't understand why this extra movement should cost £120? :dull:

Think I'll be deleting that option...

Just dropped mine at the dealer to have 1.drivers side windscreen washer sorted, told them to remove the regulator and fit a standard hose, known fix 2.to repair my rear nearside wheel arch liner that has dropped down so low its rubbing on the tyre(terrible) 3.worse,for the second time in two weeks a succesful,i hope, repair on my sat nav unit/surround,started off with buzzing/rattling now thw whole unit can be pulled in and out so its just hanging on by its wires, not held in place at all with bits of broken bracket, screws and rubber falling out at regular intervals onto the carpet!!!! Have told them i dont want it back till all is completely sorted, its a 35 grand car,not a 14k fabia, and will not tolerate any less than a factory standard fix.my last car, octavia vrs tsi dsg ended up being rejected after 18 months with re occuring faults, replaced with this fabulous car,but im not going through all that again with unacceptable build/attempted repairs, they have been told in no uncertain terms you have the product,i expect the quality.need a stiff drink now.kevin

So your "buzzing" sound was from the satnav?

Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk

Yes from the sat nav surround,a seperate part of the dash, that contains the sat nav and surrounding controls, thats attached to the main part of the dash, squarish shaped,,held on with screws and brackets(of which mine fell apart) the squeaking/buzzing/creaking sound is the two panels rubbing against one another, having the black plastic piano trim on the L&K (much prefer the brushed alloy) its like the sound you make when you move a tv,plastic creaking noise, bloody annoying.kevin.

Had my 2 litre SEL for three months now, 5k miles, not one thing wrong, and returning nearly 60 mpg every trip. Got the beige interior and love it. An excellent choice if you can tolerate the wait from order to delivery.
