Alarm?

Featured Replies

Evening all, does the new octavia vrs come with an alarm or any other security features?

Thanks

Alarm with interior monitoring and tilt sensor.

An alarm is definately an option but Is it standard in the UK ?

In Switzerland the interior alarm with tilt sensor was an optional extra even on the vRS.

Although saying that, they don't even provide security wheel nuts here so the alarm is probably not the first thing to worry about.

Yep I think every variant of the O3, even the base model comes with Alarm and interior monitoring.

UK is fairly high crime so most new cars have OEM alarms here now.

I seem to remember when I placed my order I was told it's a full Cat 1 system (I think I asked).

Even the Mk 1 VRS had a Thatcham approved immobiliser, and I paid to have it upgraded to a full Cat 1 system, so I wouldn't have thought Skoda would have taken a backwards step (would they?)

My Elegance has only basic alarm I think. But never heard it turning on?

In fact if it turned on I wouldn't recognize it!

Yep, the security systems employed on most if not all VAG vehicles, paticularly modern vehicles meet Thatcham CAT 1.

Em.... I just collected my new VRS and I don't think it has an alarm unless I have missed something in the menus. It has an immobiliser but that is a completely different system to an alarm.

I checked the Skoda Configurator and it lists:

Alarm with interior monitoring, back up horn, towing protection including SAFE system

as an optional extra. Thats something I missed when ordering. Kinda presumed there would be an alarm.

Anyone know if these can be retro fitted and how difficult it is?

Also no locking nuts on the alloys - now that did kind of annoy me. And its not obvious there are none because I had to remove the rubber covers on each nut to check, but glad I did.

So as far as I can see - no alarm and no locking nuts as standard.

My 2015 SE has an alarm as standard. It went off once when I left the kids in the car while paying for petrol and forgot to rouble click the locking. You also hear the alarm chirp when locking and unlocking.

No chirp when locking/unlocking. Did you order yours to spec or buy from the showroom? If bought from the showroom the car may have been ordered by the dealer with an alarm. But my last Octavia 1.6 MKIII didn't have one either. I'm pretty sure its not standard.

Surely not that difficult to retro fit? Anyone have that done?

Pretty sure the audible lock/unlock is an option in the car systems and has no bearing on whether you have an alarm or not.

Not sure what my NZ spec VRS has, but given that it has the button to disable the internal motion sensors on the drivers side B pillar, I am assuming it has some kind of alarm fitted....

I left my III vRS on the drive with all the windows open. Then while having a nap I heard the alarm go off as a housemate had reached in to open it to borrow some tools out the boot.

So mine has an alarm. I'm going to give it a shake tomorrow morning at half 6 and see if it has a tilt monitor.

I think there is a difference in options depending on which market you buy the car.

In Switzerland, alarm & locking Wheel nuts are an optional extra.

I assume in the UK these would come as standard but perhaps Ireland they are an option also.

If the alarm is fitted with interior scanning & tilt sensing you should have a "disable" switch next to the drivers door that allows you to deactivate it e.g. if you leave children or pets Inside the car.

If I remember correctly when I configured mine there were 2 levels of alarm..

A "Standard" alarm and then the full option with interior monitoring & level sensing.

I don't imagine it would be easy to "retrofit" this after build.

The "beep" when locking is unrelated to the alarm it is an option which you can turn on/off through the head unit.

Alarm was definitely an option in Ireland although if I remember rightly it did come bundled with KESSY. Many configurators listed it as an option. I think the UK was different as it was standard from the base S model up from the start (at least from early 2013)

Not sure about the retrofit, Skoda really seem to be particularly unhelpful in that respect.

Contacted dealer today to find out about retro fit. No answer back all day, which doesn't look good. Looks like I'll have to get an after market, maybe a nice viper with voice announcement :-)

Left mine on the drive as above and later walked past the car - the movement of air was sufficient to start the alarm! Not sure my neighbours would approve if I shake it tomorrow at 0630!!

If you have an alarm there's a motion sensor on the driver's B-pillar.

An option in Ireland anyway. I've never even heard it go off.

I don't think so. I have searched menus up and down and cannot find "chirp" option for when operating the central locking. I presume the alarm siren makes the chirp - hence you would need an alarm for the chirp sound when locking. I have no alarm hence no option for chirp. If you have an alarm there may well be an option to switch it off.

Nope, I have an alarm and no chrip, thank god.  There is no longer an option in the infotainment to switch it either.

I have an alarm and the ability to switch on and off the chirp with the central locking. It seem some people don't have the option and some do

I think its a model year change, my MY14 had it but my MY17 doesn't

Mine is a MY16. I have only had it 2 months from new

So must be a MY17 change then

2016 SE L definitely comes with an alarm - reminded each time I lock the car and forget to disable the interior movement sensor when I've forgotten the dog in the back.

<I really must stop talking about SWMBO like that!!> :D
