Featured Replies

Hi,got my vRS on friday and love it,just got a few questions for you guys...

1) does anyone know what the noise is when you undo your car via the remote and open the drivers door you get a brrrr noise(like the fuel pump priming)

2) Would any of you send the car back if some of the green caliper paint had come of??? (cars 2yrs old but still under warntry)or can i get a touch-up paint for them.......

3)Last but not least could anyone show me where the coils are as i want to make sure that the gararge has changed them.

Welcome to Briskoda if noone has already said it :)

hope your enjoying your car!

Yes, it is the fuel pump priming when you open the drivers door.

as for the caliper paint, personally i would mention it to the dealer if it was under warranty, or they should beable to sell you some touchup paint.

The coils are underneath the plastic engine cover, on top of the engine. im sure someone else will have a picture to illustrate them.

hope this helps :)

Hi, Bigice, and welcome. You can get at the coil packs by turning the 4 fasteners highlighted below one quarter turn anticlockwise:

You will then be able to see three of the 4 coil packs so:

Information on how to check the coil pack version fitted to your car, including a photo, is in this thread.

cheers guys, thanks for your quick responce, i will be checking the coil packs tomorrow. Is there anything else I should be looking out for on this car? E.G wishbones, ball joints, drive shafts etc...

I have read about the dv and hope to replace this soon..

Thanks Denis.. ive been looking around for those pics for ages!

Hope that helps Bigice

Those pics were part of a series intended for a FAQ on how to change a coil pack, but I haven't gone ahead as Jon wrote a FAQ on the subject a while ago and is still waiting for it to be published.... :(

The stock Skoda DV is a nasty cheap piece of plastic. It's OK if it isn't broken, but the trouble is, it breaks too easily. You're better off getting an aftermarket replacement (like the Bailey DV30)

Welcome to Briskoda

Or Forge 007 :D

It's funny what you learn on here. I'd often wondered what that noise was when you opened the door. Seems to be a characteristic of VAG in general ie mine does it, my Golfs did it and so does SWMBO's Polo and previous Lupo.

Standard and Bailey DVs:

None in dynamic blue, Denis? Only silver? That's a good proper colour....

;)

That's a picture which Denis took of mine ........which reminds me....must go polish my Bailey.;)

Is that a euphamism for something else ??? :D

Now if I was Paul...you could well be right....but hey, it's me so you know it's going to be sensible.;)
