I have been reading your great forum for a while now. I have a new vrs tsi dsg estate on order and due for collection next week. I ordered at the end of January so I am desperate to get the hands on it. The dealer kindly sent me some pics of it prior to the pdi, I'll post them when I figure out how.

Did anyone else go for the extra cover that they always try and sell you? Eg scotch guard, dent and scratch repair, tyre insurance? I went for the tyre insurance as I frequently pick up nails from my work car park!

Hi Tim and welcome to the forum buddy

 

Personally I didnt get any of the extra cover. Some people prefer to clean / prep their car themselves when it arrives.
If you have a good reason to get the tyre insurance such as yourself, at least you have peace there knowing if it happens you are covered.

So you went the whole hog and got a 230? Was it the upgraded diff or the bhp that tempted you?

I went to Skoda to order a new 220 vRS, but I had a long list of options I wanted. By the time they compared that to a brand new 230, I was better off getting a 230!!! I also got a good price on my MK2 Octavia trade in. I test drove a 230 and just loved it, and because I was better off financially getting one, thats the main reason really!

While it might be an exaggeration to say they'd mess the paint up in one clean, there is unfortunately a good chance of swirls and a likelihood of it being less than perfect, which is a real shame.

 

I picked mine up last August and told them not to touch it, but got a new car protection detail completed by a local detailer I trust and the results were terrific.  My downfall was forgetting to tell them to not wash it a few weeks ago when it was in for warranty work.  I'm still kicking myself  

 

My advice is to get it to a detailer as soon as you can and have it protected properly from the start.

Thanks for the advice Gaz, good to hear someone is as particular about paint work as me. Where did you go for your detailing and what did you have done? Ceramic paint protection and film protection i have heard of. An idea of rough price would be interesting too.

I know what you mean about the free wash when you take a car for a service. My run of the mill new focus had complimentary washes and it always bugged me as it seemed to pick up more swirl marks and scratches from this. It's funny, that think they are doing you a favour washing it but really you just want it left alone!

Stop teasing! I ordered a TSI manual estate vRS in racing blue 2 weeks ago and can't wait to get it. Trying to put the whole thing out of my mind for at least a few weeks, hoping the time goes a bit quicker. Got a couple of extras: leather seats, KESSY, Canton and black pack. This will be my first ever spanking new car.
