hi folks this is terry fays husband

on the 24th sept 2005 my little boy tj took his mums keys and went out playing in his mums vrs. tj managed to get himself trapped in the drivers door electric window.which resulted in major brain damage as a result of no oxegen .the accident happened at 11o,clock at ten to ten at birmingham childrens hospital we had to give consent to turn off his life support machine and he died in our arms.

west midlands police impounded the vrs.

the police did there forensic tests at the chase avenue police station

then the vrs went to london for independent checks

when the checks were completed the car was sent to a skoda dealer to be reassembled. upon completion the vehicle was driven back to coventry by a skoda technition and dropped off back at chase avenue police station

the following morning the detective in charge of the case took it upon himself to take the car and get it valeted and fill it up with fuel before giving it us back

the car did approximately 2 miles and broke down (knocking noise from engine}

then recovered to little park street police workshop.

upon inspection no compression on no4 cyclinder

fay was contacted and told that it was down to the car having covered112k

when it was impounded it had covered 111k??????

after a police complaint was lodged and a phone call from our solicitor it was booked into prestige skoda coventry for the 12th december

16th december call from the police skoda declared it beyond uneconomical repair £6000 engine unservicable for exchange unit

told by the police had to collect before the22nd of december or they were going to scrap it also told it cant be put back on the road

17thdec collected vrs from skoda dealers towed to friends garage as fay dosent want to see the car (very understandable why)

removed cyclinder head no 4 piston has contacted head

cyclinder head salvagable no bent valves turbo seams ok

next removed block

so now its down to the legal people to sort it out

when we get our money back if at all who knows

in the mean time fays still without a car

3 months later

cheers terry

 omg i have no words other than sorry

OMG I could not even begin to imagine what that could feel like. My sympathies go out to all involved for what good that will do. :(

Wow, thats a truly sad story. Again, no words - sorry to hear of your loss.

That's abolutely terrible, I can't begin to understand the torment this must be causing you both.

All I can say is I'm so sorry, I hope that you can find some way to try and sort this all out as quickly and with as little upset as possible.

not sure if you had posted this before. if you have and we hadn't read it we apologise but i'm really sorry to hear about your son. not really anything more we could say

adam and lisa

omg im so sorry to hear of your loss its so sad my sympathay to all involved

Very very sad, my thoughts are with you.

:( Very sad, thoughts are with you...:(

Phil

Vary sad story, but why on earth do you give a monkeys chuff about the car when you've lost a son?!

Sad loss.... :(

I always thought that electric windows had to roll down if something stops it on its way up... That is such a sad and unfortunate accident. I feel terrible for you.

Horrific accident. Made worse to me by the post back in May about squeezing 4 into the Octy and how it really was a family car. :( :(

im very sorry, our deepest sympathy and best wishes.

Kristian and Nicola.

how could lack of parental vigilance let this happen? how awful the car was shot through too, perhaps best it goes with the memories

Deepest deepest sympathies. My thoughts are with you. I'm so sorry.

Realy bery sorry to hear about your tragic news

I cannot begin to imagine what losing your son in such a tragic accident must feel like :(

You have my deepest sympathy :(

There are no words - the loss of a child is an Immeasurable bereavement, i am so so so sorry. At times life can be so unfair - I hope for your sakes this situation with the car gets sorted soon, its just another thing you shouldn't have to worry about.

I am truley upset and deeply sadened by what has been inflicted upon you both, and I just hope you and Fay can both find some semblance of peace in your hearts.

William

So sorry to hear about it, cannot begin to understand how you feel.

Don't the cars windows roll back down then if something gets in the way?

I am extremely sorry and sadened. You have my deepest sympathies.

I'm sorry to hear that man. No one should ever have to pass on like that. I just don't understand why the window din't roll down since there was an obstacle.

Hang in there. :(

Deepest sympathy, that is terrible.

I'm sorry.

Hard to know what to write. As someone said, the car pales into insignificance next to the loss of a child - every parent's nightmare. Deepest sympathy.

Surely in this day and age even Skodas should have failsafe windows though.

Maybe a s/h engine?

Surely in this day and age even Skodas should have failsafe windows though.

From Fay's previous posts I believe the car is an Octavia VRs. These have super sensitive auto roll back windows that you cant over ride without removing electrical parts from inside the door. (Those with an Alien window kit know what I mean)

It is a very sad story but it sould be emphasised that the Octavia windows are not inherently unsafe.

Sorry to hear about your loss
