Progress.... of sorts..

I researched industrial adhesives for a bit with regards to reattaching the rear spoiler and settled on some  Sikaflex 291i marine adhesive in black so the other night I bonded the spoiler back on, and weighted it down in three places. I have to leave it 24 hours to go off so this is what it looks like for now..

Spured on by such massive progress I finished the wiring at the battery box by adding the new positive lead which joins the battery to the fuse board.

Then found out the Ibiza PD160 intake pipe and fitted that, bloody tight squeeze against the battery box.

You can see also how I’ve altered the main intake socket and removed the rain deflector, might help airflow, might not??

And finally got the drivers headlight out to test fit, realising that during being stored it’s lost the left hand securing tab...FFS.

So I’m going to have to raid the local scrappy for an old cheap headlight so I can cut the tab off and then plastic weld it to the original xenon unit... annoying but not the end of the world.

The body of the headlamp is the same, so you can swap everything over into a different body if you can find one with a good enough lens.

Congratulations. I wish I could embark in a project ten times simpler than this. That said, I spot some little rubber stops of sorts, which my car doesn't have. Are those original to your car or did you put them yourself? Since I have no hopes of getting them from the dealer where I live and basically no cars have them here, I would appreciate if you may tell me what dimensions they have to get similar, generic ones.
I guess they are there on the TDI cars to stop the bonnet from rattling?

I think they are decorative caps for the wing bolts?

Yeah they’re just 10mm domed nut covers, available off eBay everywhere

Excellent, thank you.

Just a splendid build thread this!

Not really sure how it's taken me this long to spot it, but nonetheless I've now spent the time reading through.

Had a couple of hours free tonight so I test fitted the new headlights, firstly to make sure there’s no fouling on the upper solid boost pipe and secondly to see what the fitment was like round the grille/bonnet etc.

I’m glad to say the boost pipe “just” clears the back of the light unit and the gaps are acceptable. Just waiting on some side light bulbs then I’ll build the lights up with the backing covers and ballasts.

The reason for the extreme angle is i’m still sorting out the lower boost pipes and actuator vacuum piping.

I’ll get the new drivers wheel arch liner in next to make sure there’s no fouling on that, then it’s front bumper refit time.

The sheer amount of adjustment on the MK1 Fabia headlamps is mind boggling. You can move them about all over the place on the inner and back adjusters. Have spent ages before getting them to line up with the wings then bumper and then to look the same as each other.

I have looked again at my headlight fitment and the drivers one needs moving closer to the wing, other than the top two fitting screws and the long 10mm headed bolt into the front panel, where are the other adjusters for the lamp body Ross??

The back T30, the mounting that it goes through onto the lock carrier also adjusts up and down.

Ahh right I’ll have a look later.
