Hey everyone, i have a 2006 octavia vrs, which i've had for the past 5 years, i was driving it the other day on the way to the shops, and all of a sudden without warning, the engine management light came on and the car died in an instant, it has been in with a mechanic for the past few days and he reckons its the ecu but what would anybody on here think it is? I really don't want to shell out 2000e when it could be something else.

More likely a relay or something.

Have you had your injectors changed?

UPDATE: Car ECU is basically knackered but in a repairable state. Would injectors actually cause a car to cut out near instantly?

Yes they would if oil got in the electrical part, hence the recall
