paint protection (diamondbright)

Featured Replies

evening gents im looking to get the paint protected on my car I've been offered diamond bright inside and out and wheels £250 with a lifetime guarantee permagard they want £280 just for the paint and wheels with 2 year guarantee the main dealer wanted £400 ish he said but the question is are they really worth it ?,,,,,, ive got a massive problem with seagulls as in the poo all over the cars at work and I park up on a Monday morning and don't return to the car until the Friday its a pain because it ruined my last car.. yes ive bought a cover but I want added security of a protection of my paint as its in showroom condition at the moment so im just wondering if any of you have had this sort of treatment on your cars thanks bob

This reminds me of the joke about what do you do if a bird ****s on your car.....;o)

Is a car cover an option? A lot more hassle, but far cheaper!

I imagine the Diamondbright warranty conditions include buying their care products, using them very frequently, cleaning off bird poo immediately, and a lot of other onerous stuff.

I got tucked up when I bought mine , some sort of kit with it. I think it was supagard or something. cost 300 quid , doesn't look any different from my other one. I wouldn't bother

I've been offered this everytime I've bought a car from a dealer and have always declined. When you look at the T&Cs you would be lucky to be covered unless you've followed the care instructions to the absolute maximum. As you say you leave the car for a good few days I'd personally say they'd be able to wriggle out of it if you made a claim.

I'd just buy yourself some good car care products at a fraction of the cost and keep on top of it yourself. If leaving your car for prolonged periods like you are I'd have to say a cover may be the only option.

As with the above advice really, save your money. These products are massively marked up, and by that I mean in the 000s of %. In variably it is applied incorrectly and without care.

For the same money you could get a professional detailer to prep the car to a much higher standard.

As said above - money is generally better spent with a local full-time detailer.

Ask for a quote on a full car detail with ceramic coating for best durability.

Ensure the detailer has full indoor facilities and insurance - for peace of mind.

thankyou all gent for your input but ive bit the bullet and im booked in for the diamond brite treatment ive scrolled the internet about reviews and its been very mixed ive also spoken to diamondbrite and told them my concerns about the seagull poo and they have assured me that provided I wash the car on a Friday when I return to it and there is poo over it then I shouldn't have a problem provided I wash it off asap Friday and id still be covered by there t&c all I need to do is use their shampoo. and use their conserver once a month just to keep the coat layered up and no problems apparently  but ive found a link on youtube with that bird from the tv programme driven ................  https://youtu.be/xdYYn_4c8E4

but i have bought this car cover as its got very good reviews and ive even contacted 1 reviewer and asked him more about it now that hes had it a lot longer now and he rates it highly. ill be flying out to Portugal in august for two weeks so the thought of having it parked up in there carpark with all these seagulls well !! it will just do my head in :swear:  :swear: whilst away on holiday but he is the cover ive bought just in case anyone else is thinking about getting one......

I had Diamondbrite applied to a Kia I kept for four years, and it was fine. I never polished or waxed it, just shampoo'd it and added the conserver to the last bucket of rinse before leathering off.

Looked as good as ever when I sold it.

I'm giving Lifeshine a go on the Superb.

I agree. I had Diamondbrite applied to our MKI - properly - by Diamondbrite themselves, after the dealer made an absolute mess of applying it. It took the guy six hours to complete it and it looked fantastic. So I found it to be great for around five years and it then started to break-down a bit. I re-applied it properly (Diamondbrite left another full kit with me FOC) and it's been great, but I now really need to do it once again. The car still looks great once the conserver is applied but after a few days, it's failing to sheet water here and there.

Each to his own,

When i took delivery my Superb, i washed it and applied Collinite wax and applied each year just before winter. Now coning up to it's fourth year in January 2017 and the car looks as if it has just come off the production line. OK I am sad git after using a foam wash i use the two bucket method for washing using straight lines only, not swirl in sight..... :peek:

In fairness, my attitude is influenced by a Capri I had many years ago which had a similar product and it started to peel off.
